Since the modern MVP was introduced in 1931, the Red Sox are the only team to have a winner every decade, can you name them?

1930s Jimmie Foxx

1940s(2) Ted Williams and Ted Williams

1950s Jackie Jensen

1960s Yaz

1970s(2) Fred Lynn and Jim Rice

1980s Roger Clemens

1990s Mo Vaughn

2000s Dustin Pedroia

Fred Lynn won as a Rookie in 1975, who is the only other player win ROY and MVP in the same season?

None other than Ichiro Suzuki in 2001

Right, Fred Lynn does still have 1 "only guy in MLB history to do something" distinction, can you name it?

Man, Thornburg looks good again. He's hitting his spots and getting ahead in the count. He's pitching like a starting pitcher.

Congrats to the Brewers for making the Red Sox look overrated!

Thornburg's changeup was nasty in that last inning, love it. Who would've thought we would sweep the red Sox in Boston?

Wow, what a great series sweep...I'm trying not to get too excited this early in the season, but it's tough right now. This team looks good right now.

It is early but I agree. They look great. This team could be a lot of fun. Go Brewers!

When was the last time the Brewers swept the Red Sox in Boston. Has to be a long time early 90's late 80's I believe?

just curious, but why are the BoSox overrated? Are they rated at all? They have iffy pitching, no left side of the infield, and a bunch of unproven outfielders. I guess I had them pegged as a maybe-.500 team and expected us to take 2/3 from them. Of course, I also thought we'd take at least 2/3 from the Braves

All in all, a good start to the season. Capturing 2 from this Phillies squad would be nice. Hopefully they get the game in on Tuesday

As of yesterday, Fangraphs had the Sox projected to win the east (well, tied with the Rays). They are injured in the field right now, but their pitching is more than solid with Bucholz, Lester, Lackey and Peavy. No one who screams Cy Young but a very strong rotation (similar to the Brewers if the Brewers can stay healthy).

Xander Bogaerts isn't a nobody on the left side of the infield....Now Middlebrooks, I agree questionable player.

I'm also not a fan of their pitching staff. Lester/Bucholtz to me aren't top of the rotation guys but somehow managed to be great last year.

But still, I wasn't expecting a series sweep by Milwaukee. I figured there would be one game at least where Boston's offense blew our pitching away to 10 runs or more.

I was working when the game was on, how did Reynolds handle 3b?

Wow what a fun weekend of baseball capped off by this win! I too am trying to stay calm, but they are playing some good ball. I said this to a few of my friends and maybe on here, before the season. I believe they will be like an annoying boxer that just jabs you all fight. They may not blow people away, but they are hopefully going to have a shot when it gets to the end. I hope this staff keeps jabbing away all year.
