Looks like a repeat of last nights game so far. Hopefully they can outscore them again tonight.

Pulver is unplayable and Hauser is only slightly better.

I have pretty much flushed the thought of Bucky getting into the NCAA tourney with the remaining schedule they have and the way they are defending.

Just win enough to stay in 4th and get a home conference playoff game. Hopefully they find some big long defenseman to add next year and another goalie.

The 6 game stretch was brutal, but the sweep to minnesota was a killer. They need to sweep OSU and win at least 1 against PSU and Michigan to even stay on the bubble id think.

I'm beginning to think that Hastings is very good at getting teams ready to go to start the year but they tend to get to their ceiling and kind of stall while everybody else starts a bit slow and then has superior talent in the end. And this year with all the freshmen I think it's even more pronounced.

Montgomery has all but disappeared after showing so much early season promise.

Finley has 1 goal in the last like 12 games.  That just cannot happen.  Some other guys are starting to score some, but yea, Ive been disappointed by Montgomery the 2nd half. Of course, it is hard to know what anyone is dealing with personally, so who knows. I saw UW has between 50-60% chance to make the tourny.  I have to think sweep OSU and split with Michigan and PSU should get them on the right side of the bubble.

Pretty solid win.

Better defense and we had the better goalie (s) for a change.

OSU is not great but they did go into Minnesota last week and swept the gophers.

To bad Hauser is hurt.

Both buckeye goals so far are Charmin.

Pulver is not B10 caliber.

I missed this one, that's too bad.  Any idea how long he's out?  They need to win 2 of the last 4.

Not sure how long he'll be out. Sounds like a shoulder injury that he's been dealing with for quite a while.

Right now I'm not sure we can win one out of four against Penn State and Michigan.

Not one comment on the Olympic hockey festivities? That US/Sweden game was a fantastic hockey game. Grit and grind. Shvedskiy tied it with 1:31 on a gorgeous pass and gorgeous one-timer off the near post. Quinn Hughes with a double-shift into an unreal wrister in OT. Slovakia is on a heater but I think the US matches up with them quite well. Eichel is still such an unreal player. Larkin had an incredible quarterfinal game. Boldy has been the best US forward for the majority of the tourney and Jack Hughes has been electric - so much better than his appearance in the Nations play just last year. Finns/Canada in the other semis. Incredible hockey contest today.

Good effort so far tonight from Bucky. The offensive pressure has been pretty consistent in the first two periods. Great to see three go in the net that second period.

Jekyll and Hyde this team is.  I'm not going to complain about a good win, though.

Beating Michigan in tiddlywinks is still worth celebrating. Anytime we can hang a loss on the maze and blue is a good one.

Id feel better with Caufield or Robertson on the team instead of Miller.

Trocheck and Miller are both on the squad expressly for face-off specialists and penalty kill bodies. Billy G knows the value as the Wild notoriously struggle in the face-off arena. I agree with you, however, in that several more talented players were left off this USA roster - we can certainly add Hudson and Cozens to this list, imho. But, Guerin really loves his veteran presences across the roster. Even tho Miller, specifically, has clearly lost a step and Trocheck has played with lackluster passion all season long with the Rangers...they've not hurt the Stars and Stripes in Italy. Heck, Jack Hughes was a shell of himself in NJ pretty much all season long and you can easily tout him as at least the third most dangerous player on the current roster at the rate he's playing. Heck, I still think Auston Matthews isn't necessarily Captain material and has also lost a step but he's played extremely well as the tourney progressed. It's put up or shut up time now. Canada is a talented juggernaut but they've clearly shown they aren't unbeatable...unless they keep getting more calls from more Canadian refs (coughs).

That was the first time I really checked in on Bucky since they leaped to #2 in the rankings. They've obviously scuffled (?) falling down to 13th but beating the Wolverines so handily is certainly encouraging. They've clearly gotten up for the challenge of the teams in Michigan this season. What I'm reading above, tho, is they've been Jekyll and Hyde like in their inconsistency. Aren't they an extremely young roster? I feel like that would potentially explain it? I don't know enough about their program but that run to #2 was extremely exciting when it happened.

Goaltending has been one issue. Both guys we play are inexperienced. Hauser, who has been the number one guy is hurt. Pulver just hasn’t been great, but played pretty well last night.

They were also hurt by some injuries in the defensive rotation. Again, last night things looked better, maybe more aggressive on the forecheck?  I couldn’t quite put my finger on exactly what they did last night, but Michigan seemed to have trouble getting quality looks at goal for the most part.

Offensively, they are deeper than last year. But, for some reason we have guys that seem to disappear for stretches of the season.

Maybe they can get hot- get into the post season, and make a run.

Thanks for adding some details to my wonderings. I appreciate it.
