2017 Brewers Optimism Thread!

This balanced lineup is good at absorbing slumps. There's always a handful of players to carry it when others are slumping. That's a good sign.

The starting pitching staff is going deeper into games right now. If it keeps up playoffs in 2017 might be a reality.

We'll see how they do in this Dodgers series at home.

As bad of loss as today was there are positives, nelson is rolling right now and really we have three starters pitching very well right now. Magic number down to 108 with the Cardinal loss. Hopefully we can chalk today up to just kershaw doing what he does.

It's a shame that Nelson didn't get the win last night. He outpitched the great Kershaw last night.

The Brewers are surprising a lot of people being in first place. Yes, the Cubs and Cardinals are underachieving. But the Crew is playing very well and are a lot of fun to watch most games.

Jimmy is absolutely pitching lights out this year outside of 2 starts. His advanced stats show that he's been unlucky so he could be even better than he is. (BABIP .330 compared to a career .301)

Jimmy Nelson looks like he is going to have a fine year.

Junior Guerra looks like he is truly a good pitcher.

Matt Garza has looked pretty good overall.

Chase Anderson looks like he could be a solid guy as well.

That is four guys who look like they could surely post sub-4 ERAs this year and all are controlled past this year. Crazy to think everyone was freaking out about the rotation and now it is really solid. Hope it continues.

Not sure if this needs to be said since we all know, but we have team control of most of our players for 5 plus years. That means most of our young guys will improve, and our 30 year oldish guys doing well aren't going anywhere any time soon, except in trade.

And now Zach Davies gets in on the act. I've been mostly hating on this rotation, but they've stepped up big time in the last couple of weeks. Much like the position players, it always seems like somebody new is stepping up to perform. It's been a fun year.

I know shoulda, coulda, woulda, but the Crew could've taken all three vs the Dodgers. They went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the NL and looked legit against them. Starting pitching has been really good over the last couple weeks.

Davies now has a sub 5 ERA. The rest of the rotation is sub 4. They just need to shore up middle relief now...

Peralta, Hader, Woodruff, and Wang.

Another great pitching performance from the starter and this time the bullpen held the lead. Shutting out the mighty Dodgers feels good.

If the pitching staff is really turning a corner this team could be really interesting. I know some are concerned about the bullpen, but that would be a really easy fix in July. We can afford to take on salary or just promote people.

I love this team

We're to this point with only 2 of our prospects really being a part of the production. There are many bullets left in the chamber to fire. Just hitting the bullseye with one must be equivalent to a 4 win increase on a season. Thames was like a double barrel, 8win increase by adding him. Liking our chances to be atop the Central for a long time, regardless how great the Cubs are supposed to be.

Anderson, Nelson and Davies pitching well of late. Guerra is back. Garza hasn't been terrible (although he hasn't been healthy the last week). While that rotation doesn't scare many, it's in a better spot than earlier this year.

If the starting pitching can keep up their recent improvements, that will help the bullpen as well - who have had to pitch a lot of innings.

June 7th and back in sole possession of 1st place!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Your Milwaukee Brewers are playing .500+ baseball after just two down years while the Phillies still play terrible baseball in what is now their 5th year, have an ugly looking MLB squad, and their farm system isn't that great for a team that has been terrible for 4+ years. We are quite lucky with how things are looking for us.

Deeeeep roster.... regulars have to push it on night games in June just to keep at bats. Decent or better options at every position.
