2017 Brewers Optimism Thread!

1) I believe in Major League, the Cleveland Indians are 61-61 after 122 games, and the general consensus is "these guys aren't so bad," even if the grounds crew thinks otherwise.

2) Villar 3-5 last night with a dinger!

3) They didn't quit.

4) I'd rather swoon in August than September.

5) I still like this roster moving forward. Between the experience some of these guys are getting and the talent in AAA on the way for next year, I'm glad to be a Brewer fan. I think we've got three or four fun years of baseball ahead.

On the bright side, there appear to be a lot of "toolsy" center fielders available when we make the 12th pick in next year's draft.

Walker is a great addition for this squad. A better Kinsler, much needed. Villar snapping out of a lull? Don't care. Walker fits better.

We are tied with the Cubs in wins so we are basically in 1st. The smart thing is to just assume the other team is going to win or lose all of the extra games and I choose to randomly decide the Cubs are going to lose all 4. So glad I was tipped off using bizarro logic to make things look the way i want them to. Wish I had figured this out years ago.

In other news, back in 3rd place!

And younger, and if he enjoys it here maybe we keep him for another year at 2b! Always been a fan of real deal Neil walker

I really like the situation going forward. We make the playoffs this year, fine.

But think of it like this: To fill holes in the rotation behind Anderson/Nelson as out aces, there are internal candidates. Suter, Woodruff, Davies, Angel Ventura, Jungmann for the spots behind them... we're not blowing $10-15 million per year on a Lohse, Suppan, Garza, or Wolf.

That is huge in and of itself.

There's talent coming up as well, and some are real sleepers. Troy Stokes, I think, will force his way to Milwaukee in 2018. He's for real.

Exactly igor. It's easy to be positive when we're winning consistently and watching our lead on the division swell. But the fact that we've struggled mightily and are still right in the thick of the division race means a lot too. When we get hot again we may just run away with this thing!

Think Stearns is still working out a possible trade?

All that would be left would be any other BP help and possibly a lefty CF? 2 weeks or less away from a redhot Phillips being up in CF and they've already made a few BP moves so I'd think not, but I'm sure he's doing his due diligence. I'd think he's not in pursuit of SP with Anderson back now.

I agree with Anderson coming back its like getting a fresh arm.

I am not sure they will call up Brett with The Sky Soxs in the playoffs

could be a conflict?

I guess I don't know much of how relationships work between AAA orgs and MLB. But I would think if in contention that MKE wouldn't care at all about the AAA playoffs and Phillips would clearly prefer to be in the bigs. They essentially helped them out a ton already by leaving Brinson/Phillips down there so much.

I almost think the last week or so of the season they should intentionally play Phillips in the PH role to try and get him used to that for September. It's too bad about Brinson, I was hoping at minimum we could utilize his speed in a PR role and for defense late in games. With a Phillips/Brinson/Broxton OF late in games, that's as good as we can possibly defend out there. Including AAA callups, we can put premier defenders at almost every spot on the field in September if we choose.

I saw the cubs and cardinals lose, but didn't know until Enders post that both the rockies and diamondbacks lost also. Keep the streak rolling!

Did Colorado Springs make the playoffs in 2016? 2015? I don't know, and I don't care, as do 99.9% of most other Brewer fans. Minor league teams exist for one reason, and one reason alone - to funnel out players talented enough to help the big club. If Phillips can help the big club starting Sept. 1, he should be up. If the Sy Sox need a CF, Michael Reed should be ready to roll in.

Plus Sky Sox are like the worst location to play in so it's not like they can get mad at the Brewers and kick them out, since no one else wants to be there

I would guess if a team is effectively out of a playoff race, they might leave a key player down to help a minor league club in a playoff series, but if you're contending, and it's decided that a player is needed to help the big league ballclub, that absolutely, 100% of the time takes precedence over a minor league playoff series. That's my unknowledgeable take on it anyways. Hopefully when September 1st gets here, the Brewers are in a position where they need Phillips more than Co Springs does!

we shall see it seems we be locked in their for a while and we see what the crew decides to do.

Right. But what are the Sky Sox going to do? They have no position of power on the Brewers since they're the worst location. Heck, the Brewers should do it just to try and tick the Sox off so they get kicked out and can go somewhere else.

Anyway, huge win. Can't see these guys losing more than 2 or 3 games the rest of the year.
