Just saw that Correa is going to be out six to eight weeks minimum. They are in the middle of a win now season, any chance that they would be interested, would love to dip back into their farm again.

They're going to win the division going away and probably aren't eager to give up anything of value for a stop gap/bench player which is what Villar would be when Correa comes back.

Plus they're the cubs of last year with depth and versatility and can just play Marwin Gonzalez at SS

The Astros didn't much care for Villar's reckless style which is why they were willing to deal him for 50 cents on the dollar in the first place. Don't think they'd be willing to have him back for a premium, especially when having a poor year.

 

I would think they'd be a lot more interested in Sogard as a bandaid if he were healthy, but not for a premium price.

Im assuming the will move Bregman to SS, Gonzalez or Gurriel to 3B, and Aoki/Beltran/Fischer in LF. They are defintely thin, but they can coast to the finish line.

If they do move Gurriel to 3B and Bregman to SS, they have the option to call up 1B A.J. Reed to cover 1B.

 

Don't think Villar would even be on their radar.

Or because they had Correa/Altuve making him expendable. He was terrible in 2013/2014 and pretty decent in 2015 while Sneed was a 2014 3rd rd pick and split between A/A+ performing very well.

Colin Moran (who has been recalled by Houston) has been playing really well at AAA (.308, 18 HR). He was a former Top 100 guy who is still only 24 - but he seems to have put things together this year.

 

They might just roll with Moran at 3B for a bit and just shift Bregmann over to SS. Otherwise, they could call up a 1B (White or Reed) or trade for one - and shift Guriell to 3B.

 

As noted, they have some nice depth.
