I'll admit to being one of the biggest Miley detractors when he was inked back in early spring. I thought he was just another junk bottom of the rotation starter. I was actually upset when he pitched well enough in spring to earn a spot.

I have to admit that our husky Jeremiah Johnson is starting to grow on me. His fastball is sitting in the mid-90s, and he has nice breaking stuff. His command is not ideal, but there is nothing wrong with his stuff. It's almost as if the Brewers acquired another decent starter with his return off the DL. Getting the good version of Davies back would be another feather in the cap.

How about putting a baseline on the third base side of home plate and the Catcher can not enter the baseline until he has the ball, no matter where it is thrown... No ball, no baseline...

How about we just go back to the old less complicated way, if the catcher is in your way then knock him out of your way. If the catcher doesnt want to get knocked over dont stand on the plate or in the baseline

Because the old way was dumb.

?? There is a 3rd base line.

why. Less complicated is better. Now no ones even knows what the rule is or when it is or is not being violated. That seems dumb to me

Is it Moose or is it Mouse? I really need to know. Guy's been a Brewer for less than a week and I see frequent use of both terms. Let's figure this out as a team.

Mousse

Amen. The likelihood of Cain jamming a finger there is more than an injury of a collision, in my opinion.

I really never got that. You slide into 2nd. You slide into third. But if you are coming into home plate, you destroy the catcher like a LB taking out a wide receiver running a crossing route with his eyes closed. Never really got why that was.

"But he's wearing a chest protector!"

Because catchers who wouldn't block the plate wouldn't keep their job and those that would block the plate just get hurt. The old way was ridiculous.

Like 1st base, 2 lines indicating a no go lane where the catcher can't go. first basemen can't stand in the way of the base, why can catchers?

Ah, ok. It's already pretty clear though, just not called unless it's either really obvious or there's a collision. Another line wouldn't change anything, and the line would be gone by the 2nd inning anyhow.

Is it just me, but does it look like when the ball first leaves Moustakas hand that it's going to fly into the stands?

I have noticed that also, but hey so far they are right on the money

Boy, this deadline deal Stearns picked up is pitching great. Stearns for the win again!

Oh, man, I didn't realize the "dummy" announcer I referenced earlier was Orel Hershiser. I feel bad now. I like him. He's just a dummy on the one subject of Arcia's defense.

HIGHLY doubtful... It's not the way CC rolls.

It was not ridiculous and we can see why with a play like today's. Blocking the plate is clearly illegal in the rulebook, but why was it allowed over time? Because there are too many situations where it is too difficult to tell and especially without replay it was basically unenforceable. So a good decision was made to allow it to evolve so that the outcome was settled by the players on the field rather than the umpire making an impossible call. If you could not overrun home plate it would be much different, but you can so the runner has no incentive to slow down and they thus they don't. So there was a good reason, its not like all the umpires got together in 1905 and said hey, which of the rules should we agree to not enforce for no good reason?

And just anecdotally I dont the injury rate seemed particularly high. I can't even recall a Brewer catcher leaving a game and going on the DL from a collision although I'm sure it happened.

Glad he doesn’t. We’ll just keep winning games doing it the Brewer way.

7 and 8 in the lineup is still below average. Wouldn't mind just throwing Schoop out there full time at SS. Arcia for defense only in late innings.
