I was discussing this hypothetical with my dad yesterday. Say you're in position for the second Wild Card on the last game of the season, but if you win, you'll be the first Wild Card. (Cardinals will be the other Wild Card regardless).

Close game late, Hader and Jeffress worked the day before, would you use them again to try to ensure winning the 1st wild card and playing at home, or would you save them to make sure you have them for the WC game?

Doesn't MLB schedule the wild card game on a Tuesday to give the teams a day off? It might be a moot point.

Save them for WC game

Yes, I believe you're right, but if Hader in particular worked the two prior days, one day might not be enough if he worked multiple innings on either occasion.

Does Chase miss his spot on every pitch? Awful location

I seriously doubt CC would use Hader two days in a row on the final weekend of the year when we rarely even see him twice a week now. I would hope we would be good enough to beat the Tigers at home where we wouldn't need to use Hader back to back but then again, this team never makes it easy on themselves.

That could have been much worse. I think I would have PH for Strasburg if I were the Nats especially with how he has labored the last 2 innings.

I feel like Chase Anderson is a terrible sac bunter. I have no stats in front of me and I might be totally wrong but the eye test says he's horrible.

I think the Brewers pitchers as a whole are terrible. But yeah, Chase is probably the worst of them.

I feel like Zach Davies is alright at it. Again that's just going by blind recollection, could be wrong.

Was the league leader in succesful sac bunts at one point late last season, likely finished there too. So yeah, he's pretty good at it.

The Tigers just beat the Yankees in NY. Anyone can beat anyone in one game.

Hacking away at a 3-0 pitch with the bases empty against a guy struggling to find the zone and it wasn't even a strike.

Just really, really dumb baseball.

Probably not two though.

These swings are ugly.... why wouldn't we stop trying to take a good approach when the pitching comes back?

These guys are just getting themselves out. Strasburg is offering to put them on for free and they won't take it. That was just an extremely poor offensive inning.

So is Chase Anderson only good for about 80 pitches? I realize he labored through the last inning so this may be the smart move, but geez.

My guess is the damage Harper might have done to Third-Time-Through-the-Order-Chase!

3rd time through the order more important then pitches.

Good job by CC to use the pen with the lead.
