Counsell basically came out and said they haven't been happy with Arcia's defense and it isn't meeting expectations. So they want to see if someone else can help there.

 

What hasn't been said is why that opportunity isn't going to Dubon. Maybe they're hesitant to trust a rookie -- but it's not like things are going well anyway.

 

 

Interesting. I am glad he noticed that the defense hasn't been near his reputation this year (and the stats confirm). Just don't see how the defense or offense there were that high on the list of priorities to warrant making a change.

This is extremely random, but I just checked the Missions box score to see how Shaw was doing and we have some catcher who’s hitting .375 in almost 200 at bats names David Freitas. Apparently we picked him up this year from Seattle. Possible replacement for Pina without hindering Nottingham’s development? Thoughts?

The announcers cannot let it go. It was a ball, but Diaz brought it on himself. He chucked the bat and headed to first. If it's at all close the ump calls it a strike when the player does that. It's stupid egotistical nonsense, but that's what they do. He should've known better.

I’ve been singing his praises for the last couple weeks. Should have replaced Pina by now. Organizational depth trumps big league performance with Stearns to a fault, imo.

Another factor in Saladino playing instead of Arcia could be to keep things comfortable for Hiura defensively. He's played next to him all year so they are probably more in tune with each other on making turns at 2B.
