I don’t even know how you measure this. I’m very skeptical of “history and analytics” regarding this. There are a billion moving parts. I understand the theory though Plus it makes you make a decision one batter early whether to keep him in or pinch hit

Lots of people do know how to measure it...or say they do and think they do. It makes sense to me to bat a high OBP and high SLG guy 2nd (Yelich). Once he is in place it makes sense to put the pitcher 8th. For as many times it is annoying that the pitcher bats 8th and ends the inning, the same number of times that will actually be beneficial since he won't be leading off the next inning, which gives a decent hitter the chance to get on base in front of Yelich. No stats nor history nor analytics. Just common sense.

Edit: Freitas last year had a 589 ops. Pina this year is 587. Coupled with some hard hit rates for Pina and above average catching...Pina remains the better option, no matter how Frietas is hitting in AAA.
