This is the danger of “bullpenning” with a questionable bullpen. All it takes is a lousy outing from one of the 6 or 7 relievers you plan to use to screw up the whole game.

So we used up Braun really early, and Thames is out of the game and we got nothing in return?

 

I'd have still went with Thames there and saved Braun for later in the game.
