Deal is agreed to, pending physicals. Was hoping for an outside chance the Brewers were able to land him. Curious to see what is going back to Cleveland.

The Rangers had the 4th best starting rotation in baseball last season as measured by Wins Above Average and they have added several additional arms this off-season. I don't normally think of the Rangers as strong in pitching, but last year both their starters and bullpen performed very well, and they are adding some solid reinforcements.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Yeah I would have liked this a lot for us with 2 years of control. But I'm not sure we had the pieces. Will be interesting to see what Texas gave up.

Kluber is too big of a gamble for me. He's at the age where most pitchers start to fall off a cliff, and last year he was either injured or bad.

You and me both (waiting to see the return).....

Other aspect will be question of Tribe reinvesting/ reallocating that money.

IF Tribe is using the money to lock up younger players like Bieber/ Mercado/ others (an extension for Lindor is a pipe dream) is makes a lot of sense.

Consider Kluber didn't pitch after May 1 & Tribe still won 93 games. Tribe still a rotation of Clevinger/ Bieber/ Carrasco/ Civale/ Plesac/ Plutko/ Jefy Rodriguez/ Logan Allen. All those guys started in the Majors last season so they still have rotation & depth.

B4 anyone comments on counting on Carrasco to much with his medical issue IMHO I think it likely he departs the rotation & takes on multiple inning usage like Hader when Josh came up to the majors. Until then, he gets penciled into the rotation.

Interested in seeing what they got for a return. I’m sure it’ll still be quite the haul.

Nope...Brewers couldn't have met or exceeded this??

They probably very wisely did not want to.

They very easily could have. I assume that he had too many red flags for the Brewers to consider at this point, because the Indians practically gave him away if that is all the return is.

That said ... if Kluber rebounds and pitches well and injury-free for the Rangers, this will be a pretty clear miss for our front office.

Thank you, I was just going to respond to your other post and say let's not just assume there are red flags as way of justifying the Brewers not doing this. Red flags or not, they dropped the ball big time on this one.

That's true of any trade or FA signing that ends up working out for the acquiring team. Drew Pomeranz could weirdly turn into an ace closer over the next few years, that wouldn't make the dumb deal San Diego gave him any smarter.

Wow, a 4th OF with 2 years of control and an interesting RP prospect that wasn’t even sniffing Texas’ top 10
I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Supposedly Clase throws a 101 mph splitter but still..

The Brewers must really not have liked the look of Kluber's medicals. The Indians must really not have liked the look of Kluber's medicals.

That is very much to be determined. I mean, if there are major injury red flags, that is a lot of money to pay for no production.

Also, the assumption is pretty educated based on the low return the Indians are getting back.

Red flags for sure. They still got a very promising reliever that they will control for 6 seasons. If Clase has a full season of how he performed last season, he’s going to be extremely valuable. But it’s still a little underwhelming.

Sounds like more is involved? It’ll be interesting to see what else they get.

OF Delino DeShields Jr. and RHP Emmanuel Clase going to Cleveland. I wonder if it's more. Seems pretty light, but I don't know anything about Clase. DeShields Jr. is okay. Nothing special.

I'm not sure how much value Kluber had. Almost a salary dump at this point.

Would have been interesting to add him to the rotation. A risk, but interesting.

I would rather just pay Ryu. Kluber is a big gamble and not cheap. Ryu would be the better bet to be an ace if we were looking to get a bigger risk player in hope of elite pitching.

Both are probably too risky for the Brewers blood.

Apparently not...that's it, that's the deal
