Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2020

Plus 1 to the McDs bagel sandwiches. I too am disappointed they dropped them.

I eat KT quite a bit because it's the closest spot to where I work. Basically everything said here is spot on. They used to have these veggies with Jimmy dip...if you see them at your KT you should give em a shot. The dip is quite good.

So, I've been pretty anti-Disney+ for a few reasons (mainly how horrible Star Wars episodes 7-9 were). But we decided to join for a month and binge-watch Mandalorian (plus, my daughter wanted to watch Mulan the live-action movie).

What I didn't expect was the number of movies and shows Disney has in audio-descript. I have one daughter (3 daughters total) that is completely blind and is generally lost while "watching" TV. Hulu has a couple of shows with audio-descript (an audio channel like SAP where someone describes the actions going on), but nearly all of Disney's shows have it (only 1 out of 8-10 sampled didn't).

My daughter watched The Santa Clause plus a couple of Mickey Mouse Christmas cartoons with audio descript. Listening to her laugh at the jokes and physical comedy was priceless. Normally, she will fall asleep around 8:30 if we are watching TV, but on Christmas Eve, she was up until 11PM watching TV.

I still hate what they did to Star Wars, but I have to applaud their focus here. Looks like I'll be eating my words and keeping Disney+...

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Thanks for the heads up. Definitely going to tell my sister about it. I feel the same way about Disney as you do but audio descript would be a major improvement for her.

On a side note with three daughters I'm guessing the toilet seat is always down or dad gets in trouble.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Well, I also have three sons, I can blame someone else... :laughing

KT food, for the most part, is terrible. I always laugh when I hear people praise it.

It depends what you're judging it against. Obviously people are going to have different opinions but I don't think anybody praising it is suggesting it's a nice place to take the family for an inexpensive meal, you take them to Culvers instead.

It's fast food and it's not even close to made to order, that's inherently understood going in. It's usually something you grab when you stop for gas or to pick up a gallon of milk or some beer or lottery tickets etc. The hot food is not usually the primary reason you go there. For what it is it's not that bad, as such you can eat it and think "I liked that". I've definitely had worse experiences at Burger King, not always but often enough.

It is just as bad as other gas station food. Only really worth buying if you don't want to stop anywhere else after getting gas.

People certainly do praise it like that and will make it a planned meal. And no...not just the fresh fried chicken.

I definitely will plan it for a meal if it is the chicken strips, no shame.

I definitely wouldn't put "inexpensive meal" and "Culvers" in the same sentence. I could just take the family to a sit down family restaurant for cheaper.

Culver’s isn’t McDonalds $1.20 McChicken sandwhich cheap, but I don’t think you are going to a sit down restaurant for the same price as Culver’s. Pretty sure the kids meal is like $5 and even a meal for an adult is likely to be $8ish on average or slightly less. Culver’s also brings your meal to you free and doesn’t expect a 20% tip.

Culver’s is between fast food and a sit down full service restaurant...and I think the price reflects that.

If you are paying less at a family sit down place you must be getting soup and salad.

Yep, this is what I was getting at. Culvers is definitely not cheap but it's not going to make as big a dent in your wallet as the next level up that requires wait staff and a tip. Their food quality makes it a pretty good value.

Yeah if you're going out to eat at a sit down place and planning on just having a sandwich or burger, you might as well go to Culver's unless you had your heart set on a beer or something.

For sure. For me it's a once or twice a year treat when I'm in WI to visit, so I tend to go for the double bacon deluxe with curds. Maybe even a concrete shake. I feel a little guilty afterwards but that is a hell of a satisfying meal of gluttony.

I worked at Culver's in high school, I don't know how I didn't gain weight when all the food was 50% off. I always go to Kopp's when I visit WI now since Culver's are all over the place. The last time I went to Culver's was in Arizona. And Kopp's has better frozen custard.

When I go to Culvers it's nearly impossible to avoid upgrading to cheese curds with my combo meal. I dunk them in ketchup. Not sorry.

Hard to beat a Kopp's burger. I usually stop if I'm up in Milwaukee. And the bacon is from Nueske's.

You mentioned AZ and I had to take a look. I had no idea Culver's had gotten so widespread nationwide. Wow.

You had a teenager metabolism back then. Wouldn't that be nice these days...

When I went to ST about 10 years ago there was one there already. My friend who lives in Florida is getting one built near him. He's pretty excited.

This is wrong, you get the side of ranch dressing at Culver's for the cheese curds and the side of tartar sauce for the fries. Seriously.

Culver's curds - yes absolutely, but they have the best onion rings of anywhere also.

And Kopp's burgers and custard -- yes, yes, and yes!

I've never understood the big deal with a Kopp's burger. To each their own but it just doesn't do it for me. Their custard is good though.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
