At some point, we need Hiura to hit. We need Cain back. And most of all, we need Yelich in this lineup.

So glad to see Narvaez rebounding and stories like McKinney are great but over the long haul the 8 guys in there today aren't going to score enough runs.

As bad as the cubs were early they are swinging it much better now.

It’s a long season.

I believe the Cubs will hit.

It's their rotation of soft tossers that I don't really believe in.

There's a lot to like about Freddy. But the drop-off between him and the top two guys in this rotation is large.

Hard not to have a drop off from Burnes and Woodruff but Freddy is still pretty damn good. Would be nice if he could be more efficient but he is a very good pitcher.

True, but hardly a knock on Peralta. Woody and Burnes are just in a different league. Still would take Freddy and his upside over the majority of #3s out there.

As much as I’d like to see the Brewers in the mix for a big fish like Trevor Story, I think a solid mid-rotation starter could make a huge impact. Peralta is great when he’s on, but he’s likely going to remain a wild card from start-to-start. I know nearly every team in baseball wants more pitching, but I’d feel a lot better with one more reliable arm in the rotation.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

The question is how many rental bats will we have to acquire and can we do it cheaply.

I don't think they need to rent bats other than maybe 3rd. They need to get healthy and they need Hiura to get better.

Agreed. I think just an inning eating reliable 3-4 type at the deadline could be a pretty significant impact for us. Especially as the pitching staff starts wearing down.

Shaw needs to rent some bats.

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

First base, shortstop, and possibly even another outfielder that can hit. I would love to see Hiura hit but I think he needs a new hitting coach and some time in the minors at the very least. It would be foolish to count on him this season.

They aren't going to find cheap replacements that are better at those positions than what they have. They have Yelich, Cain, Bradley, Avi, and even Taylor and McKinney in the OF. Like I said, they need to get healthy. They definitely don't need an outfielder. And you've got to let Urias have some time at SS.

Shaw 4 for 31

Really want to see him succeed being the great guy that he is but looks like his bat is going back into hibernation. He still plays a real nice third base but we need offense from that position and I'm not sure he will give us nearly enough.
