Saturday Morning Softball Scrimmages for Brewerfan!

Here's the deal:

Fall softball is nice, but it's two nights a week which makes for a major commitment. I for one would be quite pressed to commit that much time and I'm sure most of you are in the same boat.

Since there has been little honest interest in a commitment to playing Fall Ball for an organized league, I think that I am going to pull the plug on registering Brewerfan for Milwaukee Rec's Fall League.

I have come up with a pretty nice alternative to the two night a week for five weeks schedule. I'd like to suggest that we play amongst ourselves and bring friends along with us. We could play at our practice field or some other convenient location. Maybe we could even play at Sijan?

No only can we incorporate guys and girls who didn't get a chance to play for the summer team, none of us have to commit to a two night a week deal. Maybe we could plan on every Saturday Morning at 11 am or something?

I know there are guys with bats and we have the bag of team balls so there's no equiptment to buy. If you don't have a glove, I'm pretty sure you could borrow one.

Who knows, maybe we could even play White House in a game.

Let me know what you all think by replying below and remember; females are welcome to play, and so are non-members of the site. There should not be a fee unless for some reason, we have to pay a field fee once in a while.

This will give Brewerfan.net team members a chance to stay rather fresh or improve on skill sets, and it will help others to get out of the house for some activity.

Man, I so wish I was in town...

Last time I was in town to play on my company team I was 3-4 with an outfield assist (without taking a single pitch). I would love to play. Problem is I will probably be living in Orlando before this comes up.

If it is strictly a weekend thing, keep me in mind until 10/1.

I really like this idea. There is no real week-to-week commitment, so people that won't have every saturday off (like me) can still play when available. Fall ball (2 nights a week) would have been too large of a commitment for me.

We're also likely to get fresh blood out there from week to week, so lots more people might be able to get to know each other.

So, how would it work? Whoever wants to show up can, and if there is enough for an actual game, we pick teams by drawing names out of a hat?

I'm sure we'll figure something out. I like it, Jamie.

I would definitely be interested as well, but I am not 100% sure I will have transportation, as I will be living on Marquette's campus. I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring to help you gauge interest. I could probably also bring people every once in a while at least, provided I end up buying a car.

Sounds like a good idea -- just hope we can get enough together each time. When's our first game? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Edit: kinglou -- I could probably give you a ride. I'm right over by the stadium, it's not far out of the way.

That would be great nullbyte, and depending on when this starts I might be able to drive myself for the first few times. Plus, I am fully planning on buying a car, its just a matter of finding one to buy...

I'd say let's start this Saturday morning at Sijan Field. Field #2 which is the same field we played our games on.

Pretty much gonna be see who shows, and then play.

i'll be moving back to milwaukee for a while. i'd love to play, however... it takes a backseat to work and badger football gamedays. i'm not sure which i care about more right now.

I'm moving up to La Crosse for school on 9/2 but until then, I will play as will about 4 or 5 of my friends whenever and wherever. We just got done with our Monday night inseam league and we went 1-2 this past weekend in the Oak Creek Outseam Tournament. We're all 18 but we've pretty much made the commitment to bar league softball for life.

This is great news. I felt bad about avoiding the Fall Ball topic, but I just couldn't commit to two nights a week like that. And honestly, I'll have just as much fun playing pickup games with you guys as I would've playing against strangers in a league. Maybe more fun. And no dues! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Great idea. I'm in.

(btw, weren't we saying there'd be fees to use Sijan?)

I don't know if I can show up this weekend, but I'll try.

I don't know how it is used now, but many years ago I used to play weekend games on that field as a cub scout. It would probably be a good idea to check the field availability.

Unfortunately I work every Saturday, so I won't be able to play.

Ditto for me.

Good question. Came here to see what was up for tomorrow. Looks like nothing doing.

I don't think we planned anything for this weekend since it's the holiday.

Jamie was shooting for a scrimmage vs. Landmark next weekend.

Sorry everyone. I've been without internet for a week due to the move and being busy as: well; I've been busy.

Landmark is playing Fall Ball this year and I've not heard back from them about a scrimmage.

I'll try to get something going for us though.
