Yuku cutover issues (Latest: Splitting/merging topics; cuss filter)

...sometime within the next couple of days. Don't be shocked when things look/behave a bit different. Once the cutover happens, we'll start fine-tuning everything... I've seen a preview of what's on the way, and I think it's a really good upgrade for the site.

This will be a nice upgrade. I'm looking forward to the ability to tag threads. Once members learn to use it, that should weed out a lot of duplication issues.

 

We're going to have to be careful not to 'abuse' the quote feature. It's really easy (and usually lazy) to quote full posts... excerpts, as members are doing now, would be the preferred way. We'll work through that.

What is the process of seeing which e-mail address your profile is connected to?

Brett, when I went to My Control Center, I saw my email address by choosing "Edit Profile." It appeared toward the lower left on the screen.

My Control Center > Edit Profile. It's about halfway down the page.

 

I see Yuku is letting us log in with usernames; that's a change since I last looked. I'll edit my post above.

 

It may be that local users will have to append "@brewersfandemonium" to their usernames. I don't have a local account, so I can 't really test that.

So Casey, if I log in over there with my current ezboard information, will that get me in to Yuku, or set up a new, hawing-esque profile? (in which case, I may as well wait a day or two to be migrated)

The bad news is that any posts made WHILE doing the import will be lost... I'm hopeful that the import process will not last long and the changeover will be somewhat seamless.

Way back when, Yuku was saying that import time could be as little as seconds to a couple minutes, so hopefully, there shouldn't be an issue with too many posts.

 

I believe, if there's something that could be touchy that would make the import a little longer, the site could optionally be shut down. That wouldn't last very long, though and probably wouldn't need to happen.

The problem is that I'm just in a queue, so I don't know the exact point in which it'll be turned over. So, if I were to shut down the site, it could be for days, so I'll just roll the dice and take the chance that a post or two doesn't make it.

The way I interpreted that information was that you'd be fully in on the process. Things could have changed, though. If things go smoothly, there shouldn't be a problem. Yuku ought to be pretty good at this by now.

The navigation of Yuku seems easier, but it looks kind of cartoonish in a sense to me. It also seems to be a bit slower. The fonts seem too big. Is there any way the fonts can be lowered a bit so each topic doesn't take up a third of a page in my forum lists?

Initial thoughts:

 

1. Font = large. Can we shrink it somehow?

2. The topic column for threads seem too small.

3. Mark forum read is kinda hard to find and seems out of place.
