Nice inning for Lauer. Met my personal goal of two more innings from him after that long second and first.

Yes it was, but I wouldn't trust him to get through Goldy,Arenado and Pujols in the fifth.

Yep. That'll be tough if that's where Counsell goes. I'm assuming he'll at least try though given how many innings our bullpen has pitched lately.

Who would you like to replace Lauer to face those three?

I’m concerned about our bullpen tonight.

I was hoping for at least six innings - ideally seven - from Lauer.

That’s not possible based on his pitch count.

Having Ashby in the bullpen would really help right now. Why I would like to see what Small can do in the majors. Then, you would have him or Ashby as long relief options.

Cain is so utterly useless. Please tell me he doesn't last the month of June. If you're not going to DFA him, at least put him on the IL. It's about his usual time for that anyways.

I don't know but a struggling lefty facing three future Hall of Famers a third time seems like suicide. It might be a moot point now as Lauer really put the screws to them. Nice couple bounce back innings.

Stern's needs to make another early trade for another outfielder. Even Cain's defense doesn't justify giving him playing time once Renfroe comes back.

Give Lauer a lot of credit for fighting back to get through 5 tonight. I wonder if you try for 6?

I think you have to. Do the old, "pull if a batter reaches".....

I'm just an ignorant Brewers fan who likes to drink beer.  Having said that it's good to see Yelich getting hits again.

Goldschmidt and Arenado remind me what it was like to have Braun and Fielder hitting next to each other. Fun times. Of course, we didn't have near the pitching then as we do now, except for 2011.

Nice job Box. Hader's gonna have his work cut out for him with Edman, Goldschmidt, and Arenado. But is there anyone else in baseball you'd rather have pitching?

Hader’s going to have his work cut out for him in the ninth.

Brewers outhitting the Cardinals 12 to 5 through 8 innings.

What do the underlying metrics say about who’s winning?
