I love the DSL Brewers2 squad giving us a reminder that they're essentially high schoolers, so expect bizarre outcomes from time to time:

• No hit through 6 innings and trailed 3-0
• Scored 5 runs on 1 hit in the 7th inning for a 5-3 lead
• Scored 2 runs in the 11th inning to re-take the lead at 7-5. They still had only 1 hit in the entire game at this point, but then collected a 2nd (meaningless) hit later that same inning
• Lost 8-7 in the bottom of the 11th. Outhit 10-2 in the game, but collected 8 walks and 3 HBPs

The Low-A Mudcats have a 2-1 series lead at home against Fayetteville and RHP Stiven Cruz (4.46 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 10.4 K/9 in 36 1/3 innings) making his 9th start of the year tonight. RF Hendry Mendez will be happy with his game-winning hit last night and having put a tough month of June behind him (.576 June OPS):

In his 15th start of the year, dominant 22-year old LHP Antoine Kelly (3.27 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 11.7 K/9 in 71 2/3 innings) aims to give High-A Wisconsin a 3-1 series lead at home against Cedar Rapids. LF Tristan Peters has a 5-game hitting streak and 10-game on-base streak:

AA Biloxi also leads their series at home 2-1 against Mississippi and has LHP Brandon Knarr aiming for a repeat of his last game (5 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 5 Ks). SS Andruw Monasterio and C Jakson Reetz have each homered in 2 consecutive games:

A Darrien Miller Grand Salami on the heels of a 2-run Jack and a strike em out throw em out last night has the young backstop tending UP. LOVE it. Keep it up young man! It’s a 10-2 shellacking over a fantastic Twins affiliate from Cedar Rapids here in the bottom of the fourth.

Six fantastic Brandon Knarr innings of 4 hit, 2 walk, 7 k work is not enough at present. Shuckers trail 2-0 on a mere two unproductive hits for our beloved Double-A squad in the eighth inning. Let’s grab a patented Shucker comeback, please!

Yeah, Mr. Kelly brought his ‘Get Out of (self-imposed) Jail Free’ card it would appear. I saw the line and laugh/snorted. How about it’s still a No-No?! In the Fifth. Amazing.

DSL2 scored 7 runs (in 11 innings) on just two hits (both singles). Even with 8 walks, that's hard to accomplish.

It is impressive what Cruz is doing given he didn't pitch stateside at all last season. Heck, even Jimenez and Segura being able to be serviceable after starting last year in the DSL is pretty impressive.

- Biloxi bats cooled for one night (2 hits), but only 6 Ks is encouraging
- Jackson Chourio bounced back somewhat: 1-4, double, 1 K

Unusual situation, as Reyes took himself out of the game in the 4th inning, walking off the field for no apparent reason. There was one out, none on base at the time, Reyes had not been involved in any defensive plays since earlier in the game.

However, Reyes did ground out to end the 3rd - go to the 01:31:55 minute mark. It's not super clear, but you do see Reyes reach around and ever-so-quickly grab the back of his left side shortly after crossing first base.

I'm not sure if word reached the Voice of the Sounds, Jeff Hem, by the end of the game, as to what the injury may be. No possible way to fully speculate given the two video moments referred to.

One would think we'll find out, but minor league injury news is often difficult to come by, even for players on the 40-man roster. For instance, 6'8" LH reliever Angel Perdomo was placed on Nashville's 7-day IL back on April 12th, then moved to the 60-day IL on June 14th, and it's been frustrating that we can't get a formal update on a member of the 40-man.
