Oh baby, I do love this version of Garrett Mitchell. My goodness he looks in prime form. He's moving like a gazelle but built a bit like a jaguar. In the post-game interview, he was asked by Zinzarella: "You've been given a 70 speed score. What do you have to say about your speed?" Garrett pauses. Looks at him: "I think my speed speaks for itself ON the field." Yeah babbbbby.

I’m right there with you as I don’t think he has much more to prove in the minors but I just don’t see any room for him on the roster unless they plan on playing him in CF. Unless he’s traded, he’ll more than likely be our starting 2B to begin 2023.

Interesting, cause I see a spot for him on the roster as a Jace Peterson replacement. I just think he's so hot at the plate and defends at such a high level that we could use him right now, He wouldn't be starting every day for sure, but I still think they can find him enough at-bats.

Good to see that Wiemer’s healthy enough to enter and play left field in the 9th inning. Now don’t tell me that Lutz (who Wiemer replaced, following Lutz’ 9th inning homer) has any injury issue.

I went back and watched. There may have been a slight grimace when he rounded third and fist bumped with teammates. Nothing definitive. Could just be a planned defensive replacement - Joey is a considerably better defender. Bodes well for Joey's hand, tho, let's hope!

Yeah. As much as Frelick has been on fire lately, Mitchell still has the higher ceiling in my view due to the raw power. And his speed and defense are off the charts. A superstar if he does end up putting it all together.

This is the best stretch he’s played in the Minor Leagues by a considerable margin. He looks incredible. It’s still a matter of: Can he stay healthy and can he build off this and maintain some semblance of this? As of yet an unknown. But, hey, we have several a “If he can really put it together…” in the system right now. It’s a fun time to be watching these games with what we’re seeing in certain areas.

Can anyone that watches the minutiae confirm or deny my impression that indeed, Mitchell's swing path has demonstrated just a touch more loft?

INF Daniel Guillarte is really starting to catch my eye for the Brewers Gold. We might have something here. He's really keeping a nice k:bb ratio (26:14, respectively). Decent average. Decent OPS. 7 errors between 2B, SS, and 3B isn't wonderful but it also isn't turrible. We'll have to monitor this further.

I have heard from one guy that I can trust to be in the know, that the Brewers really like Guilarte. They told me that the Brewers think he can stick at short defensively and that he has a great arm. He's got plus speed. The issue sounds like it's similar to a lot of Brewers prospects, in that he hits the ball hard but is mostly on the ground and it's a slappy swing. If he can make a change and start elevating the ball more often, this sounds like a guy who could fly up prospect lists.

The proof is in the pudding baby. He’s hitting gappers  to the wall and he’s hitting over the wall. That shot to dead center is certified rare in that Biloxi ballpark.

i think more than anything, from my vantage point, he just looks and feels more sure and more confident. He is playing like an absolute stud right now. I’m going to enjoy it as long as it lasts.

Minus the off the field issues but Mitchell is a lot like Josh Hamilton.
