Gallo to the Dodgers

Clayton Beeter is a pretty high-end pitching prospect. He was the Dodgers comp balance pick last year (#66) and has legit top of the rotation stuff. Injury concerns could push him to the pen, but that is an awful lot to give up for a guy that the Yankees were probably going to have to look at DFA'ing soon had he not been dealt today.

Ii was thinking the same thing. He was a guy I was looking at the brewers taking 1st last season as a guy who could help out in the pen sooner rather than later.

Lame.

He went for about what I thought he would.

Which IMO is more than what the Brewers need to put out there. I didn't have a lot of interest in throwing a reclamation project out there in a lineup that has already struggled at times to produce. He'll be a part-time player for the Dodgers, and won't have a ton of pressure on him in that stacked lineup.

I am fine with them not on Gallo. I remain hopeful, probably unrealistically, that they can put together a deal for Reynolds...

That's the one I'd love to see. Probably gonna cost Frelick and a couple other high-end pieces though.

I had some interest if the Yankees were just going to give him away to someone who would pay his salary. Not interested in giving up a prospect with any value to get him.

Part of me loves the Padres sticking it to the Dodgers by acquiring Hader, Soto and Bell.  If I am a Dodger fan, I don't like this turn of events.  In their lineup alone, Tatis, Machado, Soto....that's high end talent.

Both relatively small samples:

Beeter in AA:  66 IP, 15.0 K/9, 5.7 BB/9. 1.6 HR/9, in AA in his second pro season

Small in AA: 41.1 IP, 14.6 K/9, 4.6 BB/9, 0.2 HR/9, in AA in his second pro season (*not including 2020)

They gave up someone who, at this point in a relatively small sample, has worse control and gives up a lot more HRs than Ethan Small.
