OF Luis Castillo just hit a solo jack (3-for-4) to give the Mudcats the lead in the 7th! What a night, all. What a night. So many clutch hits. So many moments.

OF Luis Castillo with his first homer since promotion to Carolina. And it’s a clutch one, a solo shot to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning.

JINX!! LOL.

What a night from RHP Stiven Cruz as well. 5 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 9 K, 2 ER. That's a fantastic Low-A outing. Man, who do I give 'Game Tags' too?!? I could dole out 10!

After winning the first game of today’s doubleheader, Biloxi has RHP TJ Shook (3.86 season ERA) ready to start the night cap. LF Tristen Lutz homered in the opener and has a 22-game on-base streak:

RHP Cam Robinson pitches a clean 2 K 7th inning (remember, this is the suspended game from yesterday) and the Shuckers finish off the Braves 3-2 in Game 1. Refer above for Game 2's line-up. Thank you @damuelle!

I continue to love having RHP Tyler Herb in our system. He's a hell of an interview - just extremely personable, experienced, honest, and fun - and, well, he's been mostly just really good all year. He pitches a scoreless 8th closing with 2 consecutive K's on nasty sweeping breaking pitches. When he's on, he's really really tough to hit. Such a fun late 2021 FA pick-up. Nashville looks to close this one out as we head to the ninth inning and it's still 7-2 Sounds.

Garrett Mitchell just did Garret Mitchell things. Whewww baby. He ripped a well-hit ball to the gap in right center. The CF'er was just a smidge too slow to go for that ball and he stretched that baby out quite easily for a double. The moment it left the bat and I saw that weak cover I knew he would grab second. What. A. Weapon.

And, just like that, ?Jakson Reetz rips a single up the middle easily scoring Mitchell from second base. 8-2 Sounds. Reetz is starting to get comfortable in Triple-A. His BA is up to 0.230 now and the XBH are starting to arrive.

He is making me look good for having him ranked in my top 20 August prospects list.  Another pretty exciting wave of talent moving through the lower minors right now.

I wonder where tonight's triple-A lineup ranks among the better prospect groups the Brewers have tossed out there in the past couple decades. The pre-Sabathia trade Huntsville group comes to mind, and I am sure there are some I'm forgetting, but five of the organization's top 10 prospects in a lineup together is something.

Tyler Herb shuts it down with 2 IP, 4 K, 1 BB, 1 H. Man, he and Reetz have a thing - I'm serious. They just work incredibly well together. Sounds win 8-2. What a night of Minor League baseball! I'm headed over to watch Shucker game number 2. Man, I literally haven't had this much fun all of 2022.

It was an incredibly fun game. Best Sounds game all year. And, honestly, not even close. Every AB had electricity. Every AB I expected big things. You are going to love Ruiz. Incredibly disciplined approach. He did not chase a single ball. Not even a borderline pitch. I was highly impressed.

Switches to the Shuckers and who is standing on second base? None other than 2022 Most Improved Player candidate, INF Cam Devanney? Tonight is like clockwork in the 'Expectations Met' department. This might happen 1x a season? LOL. I'm going to let this one sink in and percolate for the rest of the week. I'm in prospect heaven.

I mean, come on, I watch that Sounds amazingness and now I can watch up-and-coming, Double-A improving, RHP stud TJ Shook?!? This is pipe dream prospect action, folks.

Even before that home run, Turang has been brimming with confidence. You can tell he is getting closer and closer.

For all the...opinions people have about the trade deadline...I am thrilled that this kid is still in the Brewers system. Love his profile, his versatility, the hit tool, speed, defense. I thought if they were going to trade one of their young prospects...particularly with teams wanting MLB ready prospects, it'd be Turang. So for all angst about not adding a bat, I AM very happy he's still part of the Nashville Sounds(and perhaps soon to be part of the Milwaukee Brewers).

Proceeds to watch said stud in TJ Shook strike out 6 in 3 IP. He is working the slider and the high heat. Impressive stuff.

Oh, excuse me, who knocks in the first Shuckers run to take the 1-0 lead with two down and Double-A HOF candidate Andruw Monasterio on second base? Who other than, Cam Devanney. THIS is what good prospects do. He now has a 2B and an rbi single. AND, he remains a favorite. What a performance in 2022, Cam. Just unreal stuff.

TJ Shook now has 9 K through 4 IP. Whewwww. He gave up a hit. He was given a walk on a full count pitch clock violation (the tension is real and like this, folks), he walked the next batter. With bases juiced, he went down 3-0 on the next batter. He proceeded to collect himself and shut it down. What an outing so far.

OMG Zavier Warren just hit his 2nd HR of his night. Holy Sh!t. That's now, count it: 2 3B, 1 2B, 2 HR in two games since the deadline. My glorious goodness. Yes!!!!! Sirrrrrr!!!! Oh, well, I guess Jackson Chourio is also 3-for-3. My goodness gracious. Somebody pinch me!

You love to see it! Really rooting for Warren, it would be great for a solid switch hitter or two to develop through the Brewers system and make an impact on the Major League roster.

RHP James Meeker locked it down for his 7th save of the year. Nice Wisconsin win, 8-6.

Yup. Meeker has been quietly really solid for quite some time now. He's pretty much seamlessly taken on that Closer role, to boot, since Robinson was sent down South (literally). A testament to his mental fortitude and adaptability. He's clearly the top option in the Rattlers' pen at present (well, if I'm being honest, until Middendorf takes it with efficient violence ?)

Thomas Dillard rocket solo jack deep over the wall in right field makes it 2-0 Shuckers. I didn't see it at first...I heard it over the speakers from my bathroom ?. My goodness did he smack the living schmitt out of that ball. Let's Go, Shuckers!!!!

It is a real luxury to have AAAA players like Andruw Monasterio and Garrett Whitley in Biloxi. Whitley just made an incredibly difficult sliding grab in foul territory beyond the right field line - he just made it look so easy. 2-0 and the Shuckers head to try and close it out in the shortened 7th inning. RHP Luis Contreras gets the scoreless 6th to tack on RHP Nash Walter's scoreless 5th.
