CF Corey Ray snaps an 0-for-21 skid with an RBI single for Biloxi in the top of the 3rd inning to tie the game, followed by an Andrew Monasterio sacrifice fly. It's 2-1 Shuckers.

It is too bad that Small is struggling, otherwise how cool would it be to have four straight first round picks all performing well at triple-A. Also, I am sure it has been discussed, but forgot Turang seems to be the rare reverse split lefty.

RHP Tyler Herb completes the 7-inning shutout of Jacksonville. Sounds win 7-0.

One more 7-inning game to play tonight.

I sincerely hope we can bring back Tyler Herb to Nashville next season. After scuffling a bit to start for Nashville, he's turned in several solid outings in various roles. He's a good veteran. He's a very likable personality in every way. I hope it works out.

RHP Justin Jarvis faced consistent traffic, but kept the Timber Rattlers in the game by limiting Cedar Rapids to just 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings (exiting with a man on first). Wisconsin's offense woke up in the top half of that inning to tie it 2-2 on a Pinero double, two singles (Mercado bunt, Metzinger normal) and a wild pitch.

However, the game went immediately south with Jarvis' exit, as the Kernels rocked RHP Joey Matulovich with 2 homers, a triple and 2 walks to take a 7-2 lead. It's now 7-3 in the top of the 8th inning after a C Darrien Miller solo homer.

Whereas RHP Taylor Floyd has salvaged his season with several solid outings of late, RHP Joey Matulovich continues to head South. That's several ineffective outings out of the bullpen for the young hurler. 15.26 ERA in August. 7 2/3 IP, 5 G, 13 ER, .395 BA, 3.13 WHIP? Woooooooof.

RHP Lucas Erceg gets the start in Game Two of Nashville's doubleheader in Jacksonville, looking to continue his good form (scoreless over last 7 innings with 10 Ks) and help clinch a 5-1 series win. CF Esteury Ruiz has a 10-game hitting streak:

Don't blink but the Mudcats have suddenly pulled within 2 games of previously red hot Fredericksburg. A very exciting surge for the young men in Zebulon (27-21 now on the 2nd Half). They'll head to Carolina South's 3rd place Kannapolis Cannonballers (23-24 2nd half record) for a 6-game road trip this week. Fredericksburg currently leads Lynchburg 2-0 tonight - if they should win, the young Cats will remain 2.5 games back. The Nats will then head home to play the third place Down East Wood Ducks (26-22) this week.

We're in the second half of the, well, second half...and, it would certainly appear our pennant chasers will be the Nashville Sounds and our young men in Carolina. It's hard to fathom Wisconsin making a serious run considering their injuries and sudden lack of depth in the bullpen. Biloxi appears destined for classic 2022 Biloxi things: roller coasters and waffles. Up and down, back-and-forth. Head on a swivel.

After a rain delay in the top of the 6th inning, which I feared might simply be a prelude to declaring the game final as a 4-2 loss for the Shuckers, play resumed with a 1B Zavier Warren single and SS Cam Devanney game-tying 2-run homer, his 17th of the year and first since July 30th.

It's 4-4 going into the final 3.5 scheduled innings between Biloxi and Montgomery.

Ah, man. After writing that they’d play a full 9 innings, Biloxi and Montgomery stopped after the Biscuits grabbed a 2-out run in the bottom of the 7th inning off of RHP Nash Walters. So that’s a 5-4 loss in the game and a 4-2 series loss for the Shuckers as well.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, then, LHP Kodi Madeiros was 18 when he started his first season in Wisconsin. Off the top of my gourd, he turned 19 in early June? This obviously doesn't qualify for the 'He's still in the system' requirement but I'm rummaging through roster recall. LOL. Unless, of course, by system you mean the Minor League system? Anyhow, he's not obscure either and I now officially give up and await any others' responses and the answer.

I will just give the answer: Brailin Rodriguez, who was a late season call up along with Cornielle last season but missed this entire year with injury.

The fact the Brewers treated him like a prospect despite middling stats makes him at least a little intriguing for me coming off injury next season.

And I realize that the “age whatever season” thing is a bit arbitrary, but it is also easily sortable and this was something I noticed when looking at something for a blog post I might do.

Frelick has nothing left to prove in Nashville. His time is now.

It's still early and these guys have 0 hits for the Brewers, but a year ago, the BEST possible scenario for this minor league group(the 3 OFers promoted within, Turang, Black) was...what, hopefully a couple exceed expectations and produce in AA this year and get close enough to maybe get calls up by '23. Maybe Turang would hold his own again in AAA and be viewed as a utility guy.

The draft, Frelick and Black...aside from the fluke injury, a CF and 2B/3B with 60 Hit tools.
Weimer broke out and flew up the list.
Mitchell has stayed healthy(seemingly his only issue) and he'd be the guy we'd be clamoring for is Frelick wasn't putting up video game like numbers(with the game on the easy setting).
Turang has added power.

You can go down through the younger levels of the system and see far more than just the young phenom Chourio absolutely exceeding expectations...you could go on forever, but this minor league season has gone about as well as possible.

If someone would have said a year ago, the farm system could help the Brewers during their Burnes/Woodruff window, I'd have naturally assumed it was via trade. But Stearns...despite a couple of admittedly questionable decisions(Lamet, Peters for Rosenthal)…he's added to this system and it's quite clear their recent changes or...shift in the type of hitters they draft and develop is working well, while their ideology behind finding pitchers seems pretty damn good.

I'm not sure I can think of a year where prospect development has been as good as this one. Even with the wide chasm between minor league success and MLB success, the Brewers have positioned himself...VERY well over the next couple years, whatever the decide to do with Woodruff and Burnes(a debate I don't even want to get into).

So...the Brewers will still end up with the 20-24th ranked farm system, but by the end of next year, it's not unreasonable to see an MLB lineup with Frelick, Turang, Mitchell, Weimer,Ruiz, Black and Gasser on the bump. Probably not ideal, but that's the type of talent we have close to contributing right now. Speed everywhere, good contact skills, OBP, defense.

ya there are gonna be some really hard decisions for the Front Office this offseason...Do you trade a guy like Renfroe to make room in the outfield for our top prospects....or do you deal 1 or 2 of Mitchell, Wiemer, Frelick, and Ruiz and hang onto Renfroe....then you got Turang who has proven hes ready in the infield....let Wong go and Turang can play 2b and SS

we could be a really young team on offense next year and i didnt even mention Feliciano whos had a good year as well
