Frelick was the one who had actually earned the call-up. But Stearns and co. cared more about "time in the organization".

That's a more benign explanation than they wanted to save a few bucks on Frelick.

Great we're gonna get shut out by a guy with an ERA over 5.5 aren't we...This is getting really pathetic.

In a park that gives up runs by the dozen.

They is not a single phase of the game that you can call good right now.

I hear the food service in the locker room is outstanding.

How do they rank against the rest of the league?

Is there a metric for it?

Yes, it's called UMM, and is based on the murmurs of delight the players make. The Brewers have an UMM+ of 123.

It’s somewhere around average like every analytical stat since 2000

I don't see what's not respectful. You say exit velocity is overrated. I say it's actually quite important (though, not the only important factor) and have stats to back it up.

When you start a response with something like “Hey, did you know..” that sounds pretty condescending.

And when you end up with “quit acting like it isn’t important” you’re making a straw man argument.

I’ve never said that hitting the ball hard has no value. But, my comment about sacrificing exit velocity means that I think that focusing on making contact over trying to hit the ball as hard as humanly possible may be preferable, especially in certain situations.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I think we can discuss the merits of exit velocity in another thread. This thread is for the game. Thanks.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Brewcrew82, do you really have to reply to almost EVERY comment someone makes on here?

I hid a post on the chance they didn't see my latest post before making theirs. Please end the bickering. Next person gets a timeout. Thank you.

Usually the Rockies have a few guys with park-inflated batting numbers, but no one's batting more than .273 for them. Are they bad, or is it the ball?

Kris Bryant is on the IL and probably done for the year...

Again, I really wish I could not complain about this team, but come on. Say i am not going to watch anymore! Pitchers they should get hits against, but don’t. Runners left on base! Runners left in scoring position. It’s been this way all year! This is who this team is! Going to grab a Whiskey, sit in the hot tub and wait til the 9th, until they realize they need to play baseball! Thanks Rowdy!
