Sorry, I have a hard time, getting my heart torn out time and time again, this year! I typed that when they were down and of course they scored 4. Great job! But wait….. I truly hope they win! Just would love them to be on a tear, like the Cards, sic of that team!

Three-run home runs are neat.  We should do more of that…

Earl Weaver: The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals, and three run homers.

I disagree with the announcers talking about Houser having bad luck in the first inning.  They’re saying there was only one hard hit ball, but I think there were more than that.

The ball hit off Houser’s foot was hit pretty hard, and the ball that Wong fielded and tried to flip to Adames was hit really hard. Blackmon’s hit was a solid line single. Maybe they’re thinking that any ball that doesn’t leave the infield doesn’t count as hard hit.

Throw in 2 walks and a crisply hit sac fly and that was a rough inning for Houser and the Rockies made him pay. Give him all the credit for recovering after a bad start but I don’t think he had bad luck.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Isn't an error always bad luck?

If you walk two guys you're gonna need all the luck you can get to avoid letting at least one of them score.

Not that it matters anymore. But we might actually win on a day when the Cardinals lose.

Oh well, winning today is still important with the Phillies being idle. If the Brewers still wanna be in this race, it's right there for them.

That was a strange error. The ball was hit hard up the middle and Wong made a good play to get to it and flip it toward Adames. Adames could have, and maybe should  have caught it, but he was in an awkward position to make the catch and get to the bag. I’ve seen many more egregious misplays ruled as hits.

Regardless that ball might have been the hardest hit ball of the inning and Houser would have been somewhat lucky if they could have gotten an out from it. As it is he is lucky to only be charged with 1 earned run.

Now he's gotten through 4 innings with just 39 pitches. Can we officially make the first inning a "warmup?"

He did get it together after a shakey start.

Mitchell didn't strike out!!!
Why on earth doesn't he try to bunt whenever no one is on base?

CC is allergic to bunting...

Maybe he's a guy where you go with a reliever like Strzlecki or Milner for the first inning and then bring him in in the second to help overcome those first inning issues.

I went away to mow my lawn. And there is no pull rope on the mower. I store the mower in my shed, which is accessible to rodents. Not only that, but I had a couple of old mowers in the shed (that I need to take to the recycler) and they were missing their pull ropes too. I've kept mowers in that shed for over 20 years and it never happened before.
So, back to the game.

Being (relative to other innings) bad in the first has been a thing for him. OTOH, he was great the first time through the order as a reliever.  I just don't know how you get the guy to buy into the idea.
