Man, so weird to see Carolina's offense struggling so badly again against the Jags this week. They looked prime to break out last week. I wonder what's different?

Just gotta wait for them to make their half time adjustments.

Baltimore is looking like the only team that can stop them from winning the Super Bowl is Baltimore.

Certainly shaping up to be a 49ers versus Ravens super bowl.

Despite being the current NFC favorite, I still think the 49ers will Shanahan themselves out of the mix before the Super Bowl in the playoffs....their demolition of both the Cowboys and Eagles in the regular season are the type of situations where a rematch in the playoffs turn into dramatically different games - and I just don't trust Purdy to flat out win them a playoff game when the opposing defense takes away the middle of the field and makes him beat them with throws to the perimeter.

There's just no really elite teams in the NFC this year.

Some decent teams for sure but by no means elite

Wow, cant even count on the eagles beating the cards to make the niners care about next week.

Remember what Yoda said:

Ironically the only help we got from anybody so far is from the Bears. Gotta be big Steelers fans for the next three hours.

It would be nice to get into the playoffs but I won't be terribly upset if they don't.

The most important thing is that JB is jettisoned and if it that takes MLF with that's okay too.

One thing that absolutely cannot happen is for JB to be around next year.

There is not too many teams right now that can go into Baltimore and look good.

Right now the separation between them and everybody else is pretty significant.

I would assume those assignments were given and scheduled long ago (to book travel, hotels, etc..).

So the Bears essentially have the #1 and #10 pick in the draft.  I still don't like Fields but it looks like they are going to keep him and trade out of the #1 pick.   There are some rumors that the Bears could receive up to 3 1st round picks plus a 2nd round or a veteran player for that #1 pick.  I prefer to trade Fields and get a 3rd-5th round pick for him and then reset the cap situation at the QB spot with a rookie QB deal.  But multiple 1sts and a 2nd round pick for that #1 pick is tempting especially if it is from the Patriots.

I don't know...if it's apparent the Bears decide to stick with Fields, it seems like many of the other teams clamoring for a franchise qb in the draft will already be in that top 5 pick range, and there are seemingly alot of qbs worth a top 15 pick in next years draft.

If the Bears ask for too much for that top overall pick they may wind up stuck with it.  Unless a team coming from the middle if the nfl blob gets nuts and blows their socks off with a trade package.  I don't see a huge pick package coming from a team already in the top 5 looking to move up a few spots for a qb in this draft.

Btw, I agree that the Bears' best plan would be to trade Fields and then draft Williams, and think it'd be foolish for them to have to start paying Fields like a franchise qb with a contract extension at this point.

But is it the QB that they want?  From some scouts that I know they talk about Williams and Maye as generational QB talent and the others while good QB's are just not on the same level as them.  Right now Washington is probably sitting there tanking the rest of the way to keep that #2 pick so they don't have to trade up to get one of the two QB's.  Though I have heard Washington prefers Williams over Maye and the Patriots also prefer Williams though the scouts have to convince Belichick to actually take him but it is sounding like Belichick might be on his way out.  If that happens I think Kraft will want the new GM and HC to draft a franchise QB putting pressure on them to get that #1 pick.  If the Patriots win against the Jets I think this may save Belichick as a HC but he won't be the GM anymore at least.  I think that is what the meeting was about today between Kraft and Belichick he can stay as the HC but he needs to relinquish the GM role.  I don't think Belichick will accept this and the Patriots will let him go because of this.

In the end I think the Bears trade Fields to the Falcons for a 3rd round pick though I have read they could get a 2nd round pick but nothing higher than a 2nd.  If they do that I think they should still trade that #1 pick for multiple picks and try to get a 1st this year in the 4-8 range and a flurry of 2nd and 3rd picks either in the 2024 draft or in the 2025 draft.

Williams and Maye do seem like they're on another level...and I think the Bears can get more for this 1st than last year. Bryce Young and CJ Stroud were not the prospects these two QBs are. What may mitigate the compensation is if they "only" drop-down to ~3-5 range and they can still take a guy like MJH, Alt or Fashanu, a franchise LT.

I hope they stick with Fields and pay him...but it seems unlikely. I think the top of this draft is going to be multiple All-Pro's and HOF-type talents.

The Bears have missed at QB regularly, but it was a smart decision by them and AZ to move down last year and end up with multiple 1sts this year.

Hearing that Williams may play another year in college largely because he doesn't want to go to Chicago. Even if he does declare, I could see Chicago drafting Maye because he could be just as good and they won't have a disgruntled QB. Plus the Bears getting a new HC usually always means a new QB. Plus you're two years away from having to pay Fields $30M per year, and that's just silly.

Also heard rumor that Harrison is being offered $25M in NIL money to stay another year at Ohio State.

But then Harrison would be risking his NFL future in that he suffers a major injury. This is why players hold out of bowl games. He can't play college football forever.
