Since we've cut the cord, I catch a lot more YouTube.  Any favorite channels to recommend?

I'll start with The Why Files.

https://www.youtube.com/@TheWhyFiles

A guy and a fish present weird stories like conspiracy theories, time travelers, the supernatural, etc.  Then they debunk them most of the time, but not before they've convinced you the story might be true.

Youtube is my tv, so this sounds fun and may find me some new channels to watch. But here's a few of mine:

Neebs Gaming: Obviously a gaming channel. Their supercut on Subnautica is one of their best.

Charisma on Command: A relationships channel with stuff like how to tell better stories, how to deal with bullies, how to be more engaging in a conversation, etc. In the mold of PUA advice though more broad.

Cross Examined: Christian apologetics.

Real Men Real Style: Men's dressing channel from a guy out of the Stevens Point area.

That Chapter: True crime.

The People: What life is like in some of the worst places in the world.

Personal betterment collection: Far From Average, Word to the Wise, FightMediocrity, Better Than Yesterday, Academy of Ideas.

Last night came across a channel which does workouts specifically for golfers and it always makes me feel sad when someone has a high-quality channel but barely gets any views.

Cultural insight:

"Lost in the Pond" is a British ex-pat and recently naturalized American citizen.

"Feli from Germany" is a German woman living in Cincinnati.

"The Beesleys" explore British-American differences.

Nerdy stuff:

"Geography King" provides quirky geographical facts/oddities, state/city analysis and road trip highlights.

Sam the Cooking Guy - He does more bar fare food than anything, but I've learned some pretty good recipes from him that we use regularly. But he definitely goes into kicks (Nashville chicken, smahsed burgers, etc)

Soft White Underbelly - Came across this in a rabbit hole. Mark Laita interviews people from all walks of life, but a lot of them are based on those that are down and out. Many are addicts. But there are others where he sits down with con artists, mafia members, and crooked cops. It's all really well done as these people tell their stories, but you definitely need to brace yourself for some of them.

Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer - Chris Sewall is favorite guy to watch in the hobby. He has many tales of his collection purchases, and each week does a High Rollers (expensive sales) and Regular Rollers (submissions from viewers of their purchases). He extremely knowledgeable but also doesn't try to pump any card or player as other channels do.

Chasing Cardboard - Similar to above to Chris Sewall, Ty documents large card collection purchases he makes but it's produced as a television show.

I do enjoy some kitboga.

Lately I've been finding Sarasota Tim to be compelling.

https://www.youtube.com/@SarasotaTim

He gives retirement advice, and frankly, I don't think the advice is all that good.  But he has this affable, content demeanor; seems like a guy you'd like as a neighbor.

Wouldn't it be better to watch Mr. Roger's Neighborhood then?  He actually gives good advice. 😂

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

SB Mowing

This guy shows up at a house with an overgrown lawn and mows it for free.  There's something satisfying about seeing the lawn put back in order.

A friend of mine mentioned this channel just yesterday.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I clearly watch a lot of Youtube that I know the posters everyone else has mentioned so far.

But I guess it makes sense since Youtube has almost 100% replaced movies and tv for me.

One that I have been recently watching is Metatron.  A lot of good information on medieval times if you are into that.

https://www.youtube.com/@metatronyt

There's also "SandRhoman History" on the same subject. Learn the real history of how to storm or defend a castle, or the evolution of medieval weapons.

I have been enjoying watching Pirate Software.  He is really smart and down to earth when talking about video games.

Also adding Preston Stewart as he explains military actions far better than most of the talking heads on CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, ABC and CBS.  He explains a lot and isn't really selling any kind of politics with his videos.  By far the best on reporting on the recent wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

Charles Berthoud -- master of Bass.  He did a pseudo collab with Jack Black.

post10 -- the guy clears out culverts.  Mindless things to watch to go to sleep:

Charles Berthoud is crazy good. I hate the way he titles his vids, but dude is wildly good at his craft and I understand how/why the algorithm and click habits make people title their videos the way they do.

I got rid of cable, and then youtube tv, and find that YouTube itself has gotten really good for providing good shows and entertainment.

Adam Savage's Tested is a good channel for nerd/engineer stuff.

Viva La Dirt League is easily my favorite comedy/skit channel

Kentucky Ballistics is a really fun/funny gun channel, and you don't have to be into guns to enjoy his stuff.

I'm sure everyone here knows who the slo-mo guys are, and their vids are outstanding.
