Wiemer had two hits already and was pretty hot. Why pull the hot hand?

Because CC and the analytics dept don’t put much  stock in the “ he got a couple of hits today so now he is the hot hand “theory.

Anybody know when the last time we had this good of a long West Coast Road trip? And none of the teams being bad?

His 2 hits against a soft tossing lefty don’t necessarily match up with a hard throwing righty. I would have been pretty upset if he hadn’t put in Yelich or Tellez in that spot.

Sadly, Yelich swung & missed what would have been ball four with the bases loaded & one out

Yelich is hitting .234 with an .322 OBP. That's serviceable.

Happens to all hitters from time to time.  The radio announcer (forget which one) mentioned that the pitch had a lot of run on it.  Tough to lay off when you are really expecting him to throw a strike there.

CC rolled the dice and didn't win on that one.  Fortunately, Brice and Rowdy came through.

The 2 for 22 with risp 4RBI that includes 1 for 8 with bases loaded is not serviceable nor clutch.

Turang now has 4 such PA with bases loaded and 6 RBI. With his 2 clutch hits.

That was sad, but I think you’d have a hard time arguing that using Yelich or Tellez there wasn’t a higher percentage move than letting Wiemer hit.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

By the way, what was with turning Brice's double into a single?

He advanced to 2B on the throw to 3B. He wasn't running for second right away

That was a wicked good pitch for the strikeout that started on the black and moved out of range.

I think it's fair to say that if Brice was in New York he's already be hailed as Jeter reincarnated.

I'm not a big apologist for Yelich & some of the pitches he swings through, but agree totally in this case. Hell of a tough pitch.

At best

The league average for OBP is .322, same as Yelich. Yelich's OBP is 5th on the team, higher than Mitchell and Wiemer.

Serviceable.

I like to have fun with the crazed pro-Yelich and anti-Yelich people, but yes, that was a great pitch, and yes, he needs to do better for what he's paid.
