This IS the same team that moved Travis Shaw to 2B.

It's a bit hard to envision them moving Yelich just as he's hitting the ball as well as he has since 2018, but it could solve a few issues.

Tyler Black is a guy I'd at least consider if we can't find another in-house solution, but I've yet to see him in the lineup at 1B in Biloxi(could have missed it).

That Shaw team had a lot of confidence in the "out-getter" philosophy, fueled by shift strategy & being able to matchup by using 37 pitchers per game (or so it seemed lol). I think they were so pumped at the idea of adding Moustakas they felt they could hide Shaw at 2B & actually did a pretty good job of it. I agree, it's way too far-fetched to move Yelich now. Maybe he'll fill the spot down the road. If Jef Quero works out maybe even Contreras gets a look there someday (although Yelich is a better option IMO).

Black winding up at 1B wouldn't surprise me. I believe you're correct that he hasn't played there this season.

It was reported that Jahmai Jones worked out at 1B before Thursdays' game.

LOL...I'm shocked we didn't send Quero, Chourio, and Frelick out last year for JD Davis...what with Stearns being a double agent!

They tried. Davis didn't know how to react, so he talked to Wilmer Flores who told him to start bawling.

I'd settle for a higher contact OBP heavy .750 OPS bat who plays above average defense at first

I was browsing the Padres' depth chart and was thinking that Jake Cronenworth might be a decent candidate...age 29, having a down year, probably up for free agency soon. Then I realized the Padres threw $80 million at him a few months ago. What in the world is Preller doing in San Diego?

Preller seemingly has compromising photos of the owner or something as he’s been there a looong time (2015) has had one winning season outside Covid Ball. Never won 90 games even, and has hamstrung them with several contracts that run into the 2030s.

Chourio isn't going anywhere, you don't trade a top 5 prospect for 1.5 years of anyone. With the Mets having a lot of potential money coming off the books this year my guess is they take care of Alonso after Ohtani signs where ever next year.

Carlos Santana could be an interesting option. He is a much better 1B than Rowdy and better than Winker at the plate. He won't set the world on fire but would be much more consistent and cost peanuts.

With Frelick sputtering in AAA, I would be ok trading him if someone would give us top 50 prospect value for him. Maybe even Frelick for a prospect like Kyle Manzardo. We could even do something like Frelick for Justin Turner and a prospect (Nick Yorke or Blaze Jordan).

Any chance we could get any value for guys stuck in AAA like Urias, Huira, or Lauer. My guess is at this point none of them will be tendered a contract next year. They could get a shot at some playing time on a seller and we could get something useful back. Urias and a prospect (Jace Avina or Joseph Hernandez) for Candelerio would be interesting.

Hard pass on Overbay. Greg Brock or bust.
