It can when discussing the 40 man because Mitchell's spot currently does not count toward the 40 since he is on the 60 day IL. If he is still injured they do not have to free up a spot for Mitchell.

DL Hall is also on the 60 day IL and will likely need to be added back to the 40 man in the not too distant future barring a setback.

It might technically be full but given Yelich is out for the year it's not really full. If there's one bright spot in Yelich's injury is it saves a DFA.

Is Vinny Capra and Tyler Jay still on the 40 man? I feel like with all the other guys who we let go Capra and Jay would have been on the list before some of them. Both seem like a dime a dozen guys to pick up and maybe not even need a 40 man.

Agreed. Im guessing they're the first to go when we acquire someone/ if we make any R5 picks

Most of those other guys had high dollar options or arbitration eligible. I don't know what the rush was to get rid of Herget after the season he had and a number of 40 spots currently open but would agree the spots of Capra, Jay, Hicklen are all in danger once they need the room.

I could see Jay & Hicklen with enough upside to keep, but they're still fringe 40-man guys at best.  Dime-a-dozen fits Capra to a tee and there are 100 guys just like him just as available -- and Monasterio's still on the roster, too.
