Did you not just witness this team shut down the Reds offense?  I'm glad you think one game makes your point but it doesn't

My whole point of that statement was, against lineups like the Braves, with now already 6 runs, you pretty much have to hold them to 2-3 to have any kind of chance. Scoring 7 runs with this offense seems impossible. Nights where your run prevention isn't great, you SHOULD be able to count on your offense, to pick it up, alas, they cannot.

Needed Houser to be on tonight. He was not.

Its going to be difficult for our starters all weekend.  This Braves offense is on a another level.

Sure, but this Braves offense is killing everyone.  They have a top three run differential (at +140).  The Brewers are not the only good team they are doing this to.  None of which makes the Brewers a bad team.

I get that, they are doing it to everyone. Point being, wouldn't it be nice to have an offense where if your staff gives up 5-6 runs on any given night, you never really feel like it's insurmountable? With the Brewers pitching and defense as good as it is, to not have a better offense is malpractice.

Yeah, I can live with either of Turang or Weimer (preferably Weimer) in the lineup but not both.

Yeah. If we can take 1 out of 3 I would not be disappointed.

I can't argue that.  I think everyone on this board wants that.  Hopefully they get another bat or two in the lineup.  That doesn't mean that pitching and defense can't win a World Series with an average offense (which they can still have).

Agreed.  Hopefully the Dodgers can take two from the Reds then lets get another bat, Woody healthy and get on with the easy part of the schedule.

I also agree, with an average offense and their pitching it can be done. The problem is, there are still WAY too many holes in this lineup and sadly are still a ways away from even being average.

I don't think they are that far off.  Add another bat, bring up Hiura.  I think Anderson helps, maybe Tellez comes back healthy and doing his best self. Urias seems to be hitting again. A rising tide lifts all ships.  Getting arms healthy (Miley, Woodruff, Ashby) helps too.  Just need a little luck, which they haven't had much of.

Adames is so frustrating

Who isn't really.  At bat to at bat, I'm not sure what any of these dudes is gonna do.

Why on Earth is Adames hitting third?? Has Counsell been asked this question?? It makes a bad lineup worse having your two good hitters in front of one of your worst.

Games like this make you realize that guys like Santana are just not going to be enough. You just have too far to go.

Bingo! Multiple bats are needed.

Atlanta is a far better team than Milwaukee in 2023

I’m not sure “adding a bat” via trade makes up the difference if we face the Braves in the postseason

They would need to be in a slump or have injuries to a few key players

Never say never … but the gap in talent is immense

And - I’m quite sure adding Hiura won’t put us over the top

I’m shocked at the # of forum members who continue to call for his promotion

Hiura is not the Brewers savior

Which is true of most of the teams in the NL.
