I would like to quickly point out...

Our four Affiliates in Carolina, Wisconsin, Biloxi, and Nashville are now a combined 64-47 to start the 2nd half. We have Biloxi and Carolina sitting in 1st place. We have Wisconsin alone in 2nd place 2 GB the Kernels (gaining 2 G as mentioned in this 4-2 series victory). And, we have Nashville in 3rd place but just 1.5 GB the first place Iowa Cubs as they sit 14-11 in the 2nd Half. Everyone is above 0.500. This is fantastic start to the collective second halves. Deserving of celbration.

Could tonight be Chourio and Black’s last game as Shuckers? Wouldn’t totally shock me.

In what regard?

Promotion to AAA. Sorry, should have expounded. Definitely not implying any trade.

I didn't think so but I wanted to be sure 😅. Could be right. They are certainly deserving of more opportunities given their seasons. Incredible output. I selfishly want Black to have the opportunity to break the steals record but in the grand scheme of things it isn't all that meaningful.

So Luke Adams and Luis Lara are both not in the Brewers lineup today. They both already had a day off this week. Does it mean something?

The Low-A Mudcats go for the 6-0 series sweep in Columbia, with RHP Aidan Maldonado (5.45 ERA, 1.85 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 34.2 IP) returning from injury to start todays game. C Jose Sibrian has a 7-game hitting streak.

AA Biloxi is also shooting for a 6-0 series sweep at home over Birmingham, with RHP James Meeker sent out for his 2nd start of the week (6 IP, 2 ER, 2 Ks on Tuesday). DH/1B/C Wes Clarke has three straight months of OPS’ over .800 (.862 OPS in 61 games from start of May).

It could, or it could just be the return of Guilarte, Hall and Castillo left more players to get playing time for.

I prefer if this is actually the case

Somewhat logical guys to discuss in trades so maybe they are being cautious?

RHP Aidan Maldonado returned to the lineup and continued his ongoing struggles:

1 IP 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 3 ER, 33 pitches.

BUT, RHP Will Childers with his best work on the mound in quite some time:

4 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 R.

You love to see that from a young arm who had been getting knocked around quite a bit as of late.

Mudcats trail 3-1 in the top of the 6th as they look to steal one here and take the sweep @ Columbia.

I was at the T-Rats game today, Jimenez was on point!  Just a fun outing to watch.

I was nervous as hell from the 4th inning on as it looked like he had something special going.

What a great game to see live!

Chourio starts his day with a single poke. Season OPS up to 0.818. Season BA up to 0.283.

As Stevie Wonder would surmise: 'Hotter than July'. We need to super-impose Chourio into that album cover😅

I think he may have figured out this whole AA thing. At the age of 19...

The fine bullpen work of LHP Darrell Thompson, LHP Clayton Andrews, and LHP Alex Claudio have given the Sounds a chance after another RHP Jason Alexander outing in which he got hit around the ball park. Sounds trailed 6-2 (all Alexander's runs) in the 9th but have plated two with nobody down. Man on 2B. Devanney at the dish. Sounds trail 6-4 after Navarreto's 2-RBI double. Devanney just popped up to 2B so there is 1 down. Harrison to the dish.

Excuse me, I am live now and it's 6-3. Harrison struck out. Urias was just HBP so the bases are juiced. Two down. VanMeter will try to do some further damage.

VanMeter grounds out weakly to 2B after lunging for a pitch low and tailing outside the zone. He was protecting after a replay challenge by the Tides' catcher proved correct and costly taking the 3-1 count back to 2-2. ON weekend games in the International League, they move to the challenge replay system. SO, it isn't the standard ABS. Really good call by the Tides catcher as the pitch was just nicking the inner line of the strike zone versus the lefty bat of VanMeter.

Sounds lose 6-3. They leave the bases dripping. They split the series, I believe (?), 3-3.

Chourio with another walk. He’s racking up quite a few of them in July.

8 BB : 9 K in July after that free pass.

Noice!

RHP Will Childers step to the podium:

6 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 7K, 0 R of relief work today. Fantastic outing for Childers! The Mudcats offense, minus the bats of Luke Adams and Luis Lara, were held to one run. They lose 3-1 but win the series 5-1 on the road @ Columbia.

Have a feeling they will wait until after deadline. Then have an organizational shuffle. Get some of the thriving kids up a level to get feet wet for next year. Adams should be one of them

Holy heck it's hard to fathom the offensive explosion we've witnessed by the Shuckers of late. They just laid down another 10-spot inning. Thats 2 10 run innings in 8 days. My goodness. AND this inning isn't over yet as they lead 12-1 here in the bottom of the 6th.

Over this same 8-Day span, they have scored a grand total of 69 runs in 8 games.

They have 2 1/3 innings left.

Unreal.

Edit to Add:

Here's the highlight reel. Valerio's 3rd Long Ball of 2023 included:
