Rodriguez is having a mini slump since his four hit, two home run game in July, with just one hit across his last four outings. Hopefully just a small thing, with four K's in 16 plate appearances too

Would be great to see a hot run and that hard quality contact before the DSL season wraps up

I can’t believe there are only a couple weeks left in the DSL and ACL leagues!

Folks, we are approaching history in Low-A Carolina and I politely suggest we give this young squad all the necessary mojo to cross the finish line. The Mudcats hold a 5.0 G lead atop their division with 30 games to go. As I've said many times in the past couple of weeks: Down East already won the first half crown so they are already poised to face the 2nd half winners. These two teams will then play a three game post-season semi finals, if you will, and the winner will play a best of three Championship Series with the Carolina North division series winners.

SO, the Mudcats current nemeses in this second half push are, currently, Lynchburg (5.0 GB as well) and Fredericksburg (5.5 GB).

Why do I bring this up?

Well, unlike the Twins' perennial (literally) High-A Playoff participants in Cedar Rapids (seriously, what a juggernaut the Kernels are), the Mudcats actually hold the longest MiLB Playoff drought in all the Minor Leagues: They have not appeared in the post-season in 13 seasons

Last season was heartbreak city. This is the year of Atonement. I can feel it. There is ample talent in the ACL to help see this come to fruition. May it be so.

On a serious note though, who is the last Brewers draft pick to dominate like this in their draft year? After today, Boeve will have a wRC+ over 300

Soooo let’s get Bovee out of AZ…. I think it’s a tad bit too easy for him. Baez, O’Rae & also make way on up

Since this influx of offensive juice post-draft, the ACL Crew have snuck in front of the ACL Reds in their ACL Central Division by 1.0 G. AND, w the Crew hoping to pull out tonight's 'W' (leading 13-4) in the bottom of the 6th now, the ACL Reds trail 6-3 in the 8th. It might be a 2.0 G lead soon enough.

Noice!

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

The only negative coming into this draft I personally saw with INF Mike Boeve was his parents were Cardinals fans. That was a distinctly negative mark in my evaluation process. He can't just change that by finding a better swing path for a higher launch angle. It was almost like an evil curse. When I dug deeper, 'The Boevster' admitted in pre-draft interviews his family was ready to change their fandom. Pheweeee boy, I exclaimed!

In many ways, Boeve's selection saved his entire lineage. This is monumental to their future successes as a clan. Hopefully, we Brewers faithful will taste the fruits of this incredible turn to good fortune.

Kudos to his parents for making the ultimate sacrifice by abandoning an organization that is a model for us all in how do do things the Right Way.

I remember Prince Fielder tearing up the Pioneer League in '02. But even that might not approach what Boeve has done so far.

I see a Fast Riser:

In Nebraska, baseball fans root for various teams due to the lack of an in-state option. Boeve followed the St. Louis Cardinals growing up, but after the Brewers selected him, he’s excited to switch allegiances.

“We grew up as not die heart Cardinals fans, but that was the team we just followed,” Boeve said. “They are a division rival. We were certainly ready to change our fandom, so we latched on pretty quickly to the Brewers.”

Poised for big things...
