As we will see it in tomorrow's Minor League Report:

Quote

One day after getting smoked in a continuation of a postponed game with the first place Dodgers Bautista, the DSL Crew Uno bounced back and shut out the second place Dodgers Mega. The really story in this one appears to be the combined pitching efforts of RHP Jesael Cabrera (5 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 R) and RHP Roman Perez (2 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 4 K, 0 R). Cabrera picked up his fourth win of 2023 (4-1) while Perez picked up sixth save. On the offensive side of things, C Ludwin Tejada knocked both runs across via a solo shot in the fifth frame and a sac fly in the seventh frame. That was all the DSL Crew Uno needed. Also of note, 1B Gery Holguin took three free passes and INF Eduardo Charles played in just his third game of the summer going 1-for-3, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 CS in the lead-off spot. The Crew won this one despite their 0-for-6 mark with RISP. The Mega never had a man touch second base. The DSL Cerveceros Uno bounce back above 0.500 at 25-24 on their season.

In less than an hour we'll see the upstart Mudcats looking to bounce back from the 16-3 thrashing they took in Game 1 at the Kannapolis Cannonballers. LHP Brian Fitzpatrick will get his second start of his brief Low-A tenure. We see Dylan O'Rae has shifted to 2B and underrated Kaylan Nicasia will take his savvy defense to CF. C Blayberg Diaz has taken the back-stop whereas Jose Sibrian's hot bat is kept in the lineup as a DH. Let's hope the Mudcats can even this series and keep that first place pace.

The Timber Rattlers, like the Mudcats, will look to even their series at 1 game apiece as they start game 2 in Cedar Rapids in just over an hour. RHP Cameron Wagoner will attempt to keep his season trending up as he'll look to keep the Kernels hitters off-balance with his breaking pitches. SS Robert Moore (2nd in the Midwest League in 2B's at 29) will be moved up to the #5 spot in the batting order looking to move on from last night's 0-for-3 batting 9th. CF Luis Lara, in his second game at High-A, is back in CF batting lead-off.

One day after we were mesmerized by uber-talented RHP Jacob Misiorowski, we are afforded the opportunity to see the uber-talented RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez on the hill. How will the Shuckers hit the diamond after their 3-0 shutout victory? Stay tuned! CF Jackson Chourio is back for his second game since his return from rest and repair. RF Lamar Sparks is back in the lead-off spot after batting ninth last night. We see Ethan Murray once again is given SS duties while Freddy Zamora covers 2B. Isaac Collins will get just his second start at 3B of his season and his third game action there overall. And, of course, we're all wondering if LF Carlos D. Rodriguez can extend his multi-hit franchise record-setting streak to seven games.

Nashville is back at their home ballpark looking to atone for their anemic 7-4 loss to last place Charlotte in game 1. Tyler Black is back at 3B again looking to build some momentum off his BB, SB, 2B effort last night. Rowdy Tellez is moved off of 1B into the DH role whereas Keston Hiura will get another start at 1B batting clean-up as well. Patrick Dorrian is back at SS while Josh VanMeter gets his first PT of the young series. Cam Devanney is given the night off.

LHP Brian Fitzpatrick. First batter. Four pitches. Three of them strikes. Next batter 0-2 count worked full (a couple balls in the dirt off-speed) but he gets the swing and miss for strike 3. Two K. Third batter 2-0 count (two very nice pitches just below the zone - one a nice breaking ball that may have even clipped the zone). He gets the ground out to O'Rae who makes a nice backhanded grab and toss to 1B. On to the 2nd frame.

Oh, and shocker: Jose Sibrian ripped a double down the RF line in the first. #MyGuy #IDon'tCareHowOldHeIs #SignThisMan

First inning, Mudcats strand Sibrian at 2B - Chirinos groundout to 3B. Second inning, they strand Castillo at 3B and Diaz at 2B - Nicasia K swinging on an off-speed (change-up, likely) that dipped below the zone in an 0-2 count.

4 batters faced for Fitzpatrick. 3 K. Really nice work early. Off-speed is getting lots of swing and misses. Setting up his heater.

Whew, Black with a bomb on a hanger

Clarke sees that hanger and responds with a mammoth shot over the LF wall. 1-0 Shuckers.

Darrien Miller just poked a two out, men on 1st and 2nd knock up the middle for an RBI knock. Metzinger follows with a slow roller into the RF grass and it scores a run as well. 2-0 T-Rats. Luis Lara to the dish. Men on 1st and 2nd. Still two down.

He is so much stronger than given credit for:

@markedman5: For some reason your clip post didn't show up before I posted this. Regardless, thanks for posting it!

LHP Brian Fitzpatrick handed off a 'No-No'. 13 batters. 5 K. 1 BB. 0 H. 0 R. Heck of an outing. RHP Jesus Rivero gave up a single to RF facing his first batter.

I have really enjoyed second half RHP Cameron Wagoner. He's just pitching so much better. His breaking ball is evolving into a serious weapon.

If the Mudcats end up losing this one in Kannapolis they are going to lament the numerous times they left two men on base with two down. Off the top of my head that's at least 4 innings with one or two runners on with two down. Their bats are suddenly quiet.

(this is posted in the 6th inning - I had to tend farm animals so I paused all my contests 😂)

Chourio mini-slump continues. 0-for-15 in his past 15 AB's with the weak groundout RBI. Oh July, you sweet Prince. Return to me!

Good pitch recognition on his RBI walk. That's bound to be the start of his next heater.
