Maybe I'm thinking of someone else but I think if he goes down for a bit they likely gain another year of control.  I'm sure an expert will clarify.     

But, really it would be best for him to go down and play everyday and have them work with him on the flaws that have been discovered in his swing.  With Taylor playing well and also perfectly good at D there just isn't much PT for him.  Get a couple weeks of ABs in to hopefully get into a better spot to finish the season/playoffs.

His has been studied to death.  That's because the organization understands that reverse splits are mostly a statistical mirage.  You need a huge sample to tell you anything.
