Cards will always be number one.    Always.       And there shouldn’t be a close second

That would work for me , I've always had a dislike for the Yankees when we in the AL ! Plus the money spending disparity !

Really wonder what the Brewers will do when Houser is eligible to come off the IL. With 17 games in a row, I imagine they will want to go to a 6-man rotation, but the only pitchers in the bullpen who have options are DW, Milner, Uribe, Megill, Peguero. Maybe a Peguero option or fake IL stint?

I got a phone call I wanted  to take around the 6th inning with the score 2-2. So, I paused the game there and when the call ended I watched the rest of the game with judicious use of fast forward.

It was fun seeing those runs come in rapid succession, and having the last guy in the bullpen come in with a 6 run lead and finish it without needing Williams to start throwing.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I’m going to preface this by saying I haven’t had an opinion about hiura all year.    I get the reasons why he hasn’t come up

but I’m going to insert myself into the conversation now.    I’m done with the rowdy’s and Anderson of the world.    I don’t give a crap about defense and left handed bats or positions.     Screw it.    Let hiura come up and dh for a week.    Let’s see if we can catch lightning in a bottle.      Those guys had a chance and they are bad.   Enough.

It would be great to know which teams have the highest (or lowest) percentage of RISP actually score.

Brewers would likely fair pretty well in that stat as they are 11th in the MLB in wRC+ with RISP and 11th in BA for those that like batting average

Edit: I see this was already mentioned later in the thread.

Brewers actually have better than league-average stats with RISP. .775 OPS versus .756 for the league as a whole. Score a run 36.5% of plate appearances versus 34.1% for the league.

I always like to compare the Brewers to playoff contenders, not the whole league.

He’s injured - on Nashville IL - unlikely to play again this season

Ugh.    Of course he is.       I finally gave in and now he’s hurt.

I'd go Peguero for sure.

One of the first things that jumps out at me when I look at these numbers is the number of plate appearances with RISP. If you look at that the Brewers are 26th and most of the teams around them are terrible teams.

I have said this before but I think the Brewers bigger problem is not generating enough scoring chances, not that they are horrible at converting them.

The other thing I note is that the Braves are 20th in PA with RISP. But they can get away with that because of the number of HRs they hit.

A team that doesn’t get a lot of runners in scoring position and doesn’t hit a lot of HRs is likely to be a poor scoring team even if they are league average in delivering on those chances. The Brewers are in that category.

Also, just rewatching the game.

-Rotino mentioned that Vieiera has "only" 15 walks in 37 innings in Nashville.

Ummmmm

-that's how you close out a blowout.  Throw strikes.

He's a huge man.  Between him and Megill, I like the Brewers in any bullpen fight.

Plus Chafin probably fights dirty.
