Exactly how Brewers fans felt around this time in 2018.

On September 13th, 2018, the Brewers were 8-3 in September and coming off a series win against the Cubs to put them 1.5 games behind the Cubs in the division race.

On September 13, 2023, the Cubs are 7-7 in September and coming off a series loss against Colorado to put them 4-5 games back of the Brewers.

These situations aren't remotely similar. I don't know why you constantly feel the need to feign fear about the Brewers but you've been doing it literally all season. First with the Cardinals (haven't heard you talk about them much lately) and now with the Cubs despite both of their fanbases not thinking they are as good as you imply.

With the series win, not only did the Cubby Bares fall to 4.5 GB as of this afternoon but the Rockies, perhaps more importantly, pulled within 36 G of the first place Dodgers. That's climbing a rung on that ladder. Keep reaching, gents!

I don't know if you were here/following in 2021, but it was the same thing from them then with an even bigger lead in the division.

That thread was an all-timer.

At this time in 2018, the Brewers were only a game and a half out of first place.

Maybe at this precise time, but I remember them being a little farther back at other times in the month and the focus was much more on getting a wild card spot than winning the division. Especially once the Brewers had no games left against the Cubs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The Dodgers weren't the better team this year, the Rockies just ran out of time...

A resounding sussurous of lamentations was heard echoing faintly amongst the Rockies clubhouse walls: "If only the season were 262 games. We had them where we wanted them. We just ran out of time." A cracked Coors was heard in a distant arroyo. A child wept for its mother.

Lost in the shuffle after last night's win, the Brewers won their 81st game, guaranteeing at least a .500 record. I know it's not that big of a deal with this many games remaining, but that is a worthy milestone to acknowledge and celebrate....

Would you rather have wiemer or Mitchell batting in a playoff game or any of those games at the end of the season to win the division.

It’s hard to say what Mitchell  would be like after almost 5 months of inactivity.

It used to be.  Since 2017 this franchise has taken a clear step up with higher goals in sight.

I did not go back and look at the game by game results, so wasn’t referring specifically to September 13. One big difference between this year and 2018 was that the Brewers were done playing the Cubs by mid September so they needed more help to make up ground.

I did go back and look at the results now, and am reminded that the Brewers followed up their final series against the Cubs by losing 3 of 5 to fall 3.5 games back with just 10 games to play and no head to head games to help. I know that at that time the focus was much more on the wild card spots.

You overlook it when you're 18 games over in mid-September, but it is still an accomplishment for a franchise with a 40th percentile payroll.

IF the Crew can win tonight and finish the sweep tomorrow, they'd be up 5.5 games(essentially 6) with 16 to play. THERE is YOUR dagger folks. Brewers just go 8-8 in those 16 that means the Cubs would have to go 14-2. 100% NOT happening. Period. Heck let's look at it further, even if the Brewers went 6-10 in those 16, the Cubs would still have to go 12-4. Again, NOT happening.

Hello everyone - if you report a post, do not then go and respond to that post. If we end up deleting things it just makes for more work.

I've hidden several derailing posts. Please put people on ignore if you have to. We will start handing out warnings if it continues.

Let's win tonight and go 5 games ahead of the Chicago team. Whaddaya say?

I'd forgotten Box was on the Cubs. 15+IP, 5.17 ERA - looks like we made the right call there.

Box was generally pretty good, but you could always depend on him to leave at least one fat one right in the middle of the plate.

Weirdly complaining about obvious strikes (Contreras and Adames... at least it looked like they were complaining). Willy had a couple of nice ones to hit, but fouled them off. Good to see Santana get a base hit. It feels like he's been off a bit lately.
