I would love to see the Brewers address the bottom of their 28-man roster

If I was the GM - I would DFA Anderson, Chafin, & Tellez

There are several potential replacements for those players in Nashville - Toro or Black … Gasser or Small … take your pick & instant improvement

I would also option Wiemer as soon as either Mitchell or Perkins is adequate at the plate

Today would be a great day for these past due changes to the roster

That's multiple players not on the 40 man roster(who likely won't be added on come post-season) who would not make a substantive impact right now.

I guess you could go with Toro and Small. I don't think I trust Small more than Chaffin...and I really don't see the ~8th pitcher in the pen as a big area of concern.

If we're going to get rid of Chaffin, I'd bring back Lauer
If we're giong to get rid of Anderson...I guess Toro would be fine, but he wouldn't make the post-season roster.

Wiemer is going to stay on the roster for his defense and speed.
Perkins could also be an option and...I guess Mitchell if he starts to really start hitting well, but seems unlikely.

There are 16 games left. Any more I'd make would be in service of lightening the load on our starters and would be more Tehran, or veteran pitchers.

Owen Miller would also be  a consideration. I don't really think we need to make many changes to a team that's in a groove and has won...what, 15 of 20. Seems like a pretty good roster at the moment.

How about our old friend Jesse Winker, currently hitting 304/487/536 (166 wRC+) with more walks (20) than strikeouts (11) over 76 PAs in Nashville.

He’s outperformed Keston Hiura at AAA, but doesn’t seem to have captured the imagination of the collective Brewers internet in quite the same way.

Could be a PH deluxe in the postseason.

My guess is we’ll activate Mitchell from the 60-day injured list and also select Payton Henry’s contract (but immediately assign him to the minors).

Otherwise, Henry and Navaretto would become minor league free agents, I believe, leaving us with no 3rd catcher.

We’d need to free up two 40-man roster spots - e.g. move Vieira to 60-day injured list, DFA Winker or Jahmai Jones.

Bye Bye Jesse perhaps?

I’m guessing Jahmai Jones or else we’ll shift someone (e.g. Vieira, Bukauskas) to the 60-day injured list). But a DFA seems more likely to me, since we already went that route with Brian Anderson, suggesting that nobody’s seriously injured.

It looks like we’ll option two players on Saturday to enable Eric Lauer and Trevor Megill to return.

Guessing Andrews and Boushley, but could be Rea. I’m sure Boushley could use the MLB active roster pay, while one can argue that Rea truly deserves the MLB active roster pay. Oh well.
