Nashville holds a 0.5-game lead in the International League West’s second half standings over St. Paul with two games to play. LHP Adam Seminaris makes his first AAA appearance of 2023, as they take on Jacksonville at home. 3B Tyler Black has a 12-game hitting streak.

Through 6 IP, Seminaris and Meeker have given up a combined 13 H, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR (Seminaris) and 8 ER. Rough awakening to the challenges of Triple-A for the young men. Sounds trail 8-5.

Roller just smacked a double into LF and we suddenly have Roller at 2B and Black at 3B. Dorrian to the dish (0-for-3, 3K) to be followed by Captain Clutch C Brian Navarreto.

Dorrian with another 4 K evening. Boy, he's had a rough stretch these past two months after such solid work for the majority of his season.

In his last 102 PA he has struck out 47 times. Don’t think I’ve ever seen someone slump this hard for this long. Doesn’t even look like the same guy from earlier this year.

Yeah, it's been really rough. I almost thought Sweetie would PH Devanney there it has been so rough. He's a shell of himself.

Chourio hits a hard liner (97 EV) to RF but it unfortunately didn’t find the gap. Nice swing from him.

He pays that back and then some with a great jump and fantastic run down of a screamer with the bases juiced. Sounds squeak one out, improbably, 10-9:

That’s a nice comeback win, really picking up struggling pitchers. OF Chris Roller looks like quite a late season find, though he’s headed to free agency.

With St. Paul rained out, Nashville has clinched at least a tie for the second half West division title. It looks like Ashby is opening again tomorrow (gulp), followed by Junk (who pitched Tuesday). I guess we’ve shut down Gasser and McKendry.

Can you help me out here.

If the Sounds are the 2nd half winner, why are they eliminated from the playoffs?

Shouldn't they play Durham for a chance to play the PCL Champs? What am I missing here?

I'm also trusting the Brewers on the Ashby thing, but I don't feel good about it. Seems like he rushed so he had a chance to be back for the playoffs. Once that was off the table, feels like he should have gone back to working on strengthening the shoulder and rehabbing.

Just surgery in the same year he's back pitching is cause for concern for a guy I really thought could become if not an ace, a Freddy Peralta caliber pitcher who was a VERY good #3 and had stretches of throwing like a #1.

For some reason, they only planned for 4 teams to make the AAA playoffs: 2 from the 10-team PCL and 2 from the 20-team IL. Maybe it’s because MLB teams want to feel at more liberty to call up AAA players. Still stinks.

For Ashby, they probably just want to end his season on a better note: 4 walks to 6 batters in last game. Managing the mental side, I guess. Hope it goes well today!
