Obviously now knowing we missed it makes it easier to say this, but even before I was ok with going for it.  I mean we are 2-3 we have no expectations to compete for the division or even really go to the playoffs so just let loose a little and take some chances.  We had some good momentum and they are a bad defense(in theory).

I posted that before they kicked the field goal.

Regardless of how this game ends up - this is a bad team.  I hope the front office has courage to admit that and go full rebuild. No reason to wait any further, start the rebuild at the trade deadline.

Coach, you're on the verge of 2-4 and a shutout by a team giving up 450 yards a game.

Leave some guys in to chip and throw the ball 15+ yards. You drafted the QB and all the WRs early. Let them try.

Right now the training wheels have training wheels on them, with no signs of coming off

I agree, throw caution to the wind and see what happens by at least trying to go downfield - zero guts.

We suck but I've never understood the difference between Mike McCarthy and Sean Payton. They are mirrors of each other, McCarthy is arguably more successful yet Payton had this super genius reputation and McCarthy was universally ridiculed. Sometimes wonder if it was just because he is fat.

I believe they are already in a rebuild.  All their receivers are either rookies or in their second year.

I know.  I was agreeing with you and stating my agreement was after the fg, but clarifying the miss didn't affect my opinion.

Simple, Payton spent early coordinating years in New York and Dallas markets

The offense is bad because Love can't complete a pass more than 5 yards down field. His accuracy is bad. So they have this shell offense.  Now if they had a Deebo or McCarthy or someone else with speed that can be made to work.  Even with a healthy Jones they really don't have that type of speed.  So they are throwing a bunch of dump offs to a TE that may improve but right now is just a guy at best.

Joe Berry stinks, that's a given.

But, I'm stumped by what they're trying to do on either side of the ball. What's this team's identity other than bad at this point? Do they have any plays that they've executed consistently well in practice that you can use on 3rd and short?

Also, does the opposition have any fear that you're actually going to snap the ball when you attempt the hard count?

The front office, meaning Gute, needs to go too. It was his call to move up in the draft to pick Love, cementing his legacy to him.

That may be the case, but they have to at least try stuff beyond the line of scrimmage.

Then the vaunted Broncos offense marches down the field and gets the FG with under a minute on the clock. Well done defense, you kept the lid on most of the half, good time to fall apart. Guess you forgot what was working.

They would have to throw one first.

I've been beating this drum for the past month. McCarthy actually has a better track record than Payton, yet MM is the doofus while Payton is considered one of the great coaching minds of our generation.

I'm all about a rebuild but it starts with a new front office. This FO is proving to be wholly incompetent and I don't want them to have anything to do with a rebuilding project.

Yes.

I’m not sure I wouldn’t go even further and include Mark Murphy for creating the stupid leadership structure that’s in place.

I want a new president who treats the current version of this team as the Romans viewed Carthage after the 3rd Punic War

Love led the league in air yards prior to this game. They were throwing down field plenty. Not sure why they aren't today

I haven't liked Murphy much myself. He was a yes man when Thompson was GM and he's not much more than that now. But he's not going anywhere. He has to finally make some what shouldn't be so tough decisions and clean house.

Reminder that Matt Lafleur had 10 and 14 days off to prepare for two of the worst teams in the league and this is what he was able to produce for a gameplan.

Honestly who cares about Murphy anyway, as long as he isn't going Jerry Jones on us, he has little impact on team performance anyway.

The pass catchers can’t even be trusted to reliably run the correct routes, and we’re the youngest team in football overall.  No one on the team will say this (except maybe Bakh, because he’ll say anything), but this is a rebuild.  And here’s my biggest problem with that situation:  it gives everyone a pass.  Every important member of this organization can plausibly say their job should be safe because of circumstances:
- Love can say his protection up front was shoddy and his pass catchers were unreliable, deflecting criticism from his putrid accuracy.

- LaFleur can say his offensive players were too inexperienced to be an accurate reflection of his intended vision, deflecting criticism from his inability to go to war with the army he has instead of the one he wants.

-Barry can say his unit isn’t the problem, which deflects from the fact that he may routinely do less with more talent than anyone else in the NFL.

- Gute can say Love needs more time, deflecting criticism from the fact it’s his guy, and considering when and how he took him, Love will be his career-defining move—and he looks historically bad so far.

- And Murphy doesn’t care because he’s created an entertainment wonderland in Green Bay and is done soon anyway.

So no one will be held accountable.  And we do more of the same again.  Hooray…
