He was DFA'd by the Nats today. He is guy that I have liked for a while and wanted the  brewers to go after. I think they could do worse at 1st in 2024.

It would all depend upon his salary.  I'd be for it at the right price for sure.   I'm sure they are looking at film to see if they think they can fix him.  Lots of potential but Rowdy output is entirely possible. Could be a struggle year anyway, so it may not make sense to pay market value if Burnes, Willy and whoever else gets shipped out.

85 wRC+ over the last three years. 97 wRC+ for his career. Don't really see how he'd improve anything.

Seattle DFAd Mike Ford. Had a good year last year (122+ OPS) but was bad the past 3. He's arby eligible but is only projected to make $1.5M. He's out of options, so there's that.  I'd take him over Dom Smith. He has at least recent success

I have relatives in DC.  Their fan base detests Dominic.  He was a punch line in the beltway.

He's the definition of East Coast prospect hype ... to the point of there being plenty of legit talk that he would push Pete Alonzo out of New York. But after a couple promising seasons in 2019 and 2020, he got hurt, and it messed up his swing and sapped his power. 

The good is that he is a very good defender. But he just hasn't hit enough to justify a full-time gig at 1B.

I would rather give Wes Clarke 1st base than Smith.  Smith hasn't had an ops over .700 in 3 years. If we don't bring in a big name Santana or even Tyler Black would be just fine.
