As alluded to by @Kellerowl, RHP K.C. Hunt has indeed been promoted to his first real test for his massive skills and immense pitching tool kit. NOW, the real work begins for the workhorse five-tool stud.

Elsewhere, we have some draft placements:

  • 1B Blake Burke has been assigned to the ACL Brewers
  • RHP Bryce Meccage has been assigned to the ACL Brewers
  • OF Braylon Payne has been assigned to the ACL Brewers

Surely there will be a pitcher added to Wisconsin right? I only count 4 SP on their roster. Aquino, Fitzpatrick, Cornielle, and Rudy. In addition to only 13 total pitchers.

They do have some flexibility with Manfredi and Cruz to play stopgaps. And, yes, they are thin. Something will need to happen there within the week most likely.

Josh Timmerman maybe next in line for the bump up?

Has fifty pretty successful Carolina League innings under his belt as a college draftee.

13.7 BB% could use some trimming, and he's not gonna keep that 0.00 HR9 forever, but otherwise looks like a pretty good promotion candidate.

Unless they wanted to get really aggressive with Letson, Timmerman probably makes the most sense.

That's funny because I was just about to post a thread on how in the world Rodriguez could still be in AA after playing a full season there a year ago and putting up respectable numbers.  Really happy for him.

Carlos Rodriguez the outfielder has gotta be one of the best examples of how much the depth has increased in the Brewers system.

Coming into and out of the pandemic he was making the Top 20 based on the promise he showed on the complex and in A+.

Now he’s delivering on that promise with a career year in AA and he’s probably outside the Top 30.

Silly to do these paper transfers piecemeal.  I mean I'm sure all the recent signing are at the complex now. Considering there are no official games being played there, why not "assign" all of them to ACL?

Well, technically, that could certainly be happening and may have happened already. BUT, we go off of officially announced assignments. It's too easy to get over-excited and get out ahead of ourselves - we've done so and been burned before. SO, those are official placements and we know (via footage) Burke and Payne, at least, have already been participating in organized games in the Complex.

Does this have anything to do with the 165 player limit?

I mean if a draft pick signs, and is not assigned to a team, can we then assign that player later and not have to release someone (assuming we are at the limit already) until the fall or next spring?

Or once they are signed, that player takes up one of these spots?

That is a really good question! I don't know the finer details of how this works but I imagine there is definitely some type of parlay going on with the close of the ACL season, draft signings finalizing (and consequent roster allocations) and finalizing roster constructions stateside. There will likely be some stateside releases upcoming or IL changes to help to that end.

I was not referring to Brewerfanatic reporting. I was referring to the Brewers announcing only the top 3 players reporting.  I considered the 165 man limit but to my amateur calculations, they are already under the 165 with all the new signings. So why delay?  I guess it doesn't matter as these are just paper transactions.

So awesome. I've been such a huge fan of his since his first outing at Carolina back in 2022. You could tell even then he had the raw stuff to be different. Now that he's finally healthy and has gotten even stronger and just knows his strengths more and more...

Yeah. Odd. As he pitched all season at low A. Maybe to help build innings and confidence, and maybe to help the Mudcats win games later in the season.

Now this year he sprints past A+, the stops in Biloxi for a bit and off to Nashville.  Good for him

Thats 3-4 quality arms in AAA (Miz, CFRod, Henderson and the overlooked Patrick). To go with Gasser, Hall as young arms to work into the rotation next year along with Freddy, Colin, Tobias and Civale, along with the unknowns of Miley (retire?) and Woodruff (shoulder surgery). That’s a plethora of possible pitchers to pen in the rotation next year.

Since May 1st Yophery is slashing .269/.364/.430 for a 133 wRC+ with a 13% BB-rate and 22% K-rate. Pretty good for an 18 year old. I don't think he has that superstar potential that Chourio has. Think he's not as tooled up as Chourio, but think he has a chance to play his way into the Top 100 as he works his way to the MLB.

Carolina Press Release:

ZEBULON – The Milwaukee Brewers recently announced a roster transaction affecting the Carolina Mudcats active roster. The announced move includes RHP Jesus Flores added from ACL Brewers.

The Carolina Mudcats roster is currently at 29 active players and 6 on the injured list.

In summary:
8/6: RHP Jesus Flores added from ACL Brewers

Flores will wear #24

The most recent roster is linked here

The 19-year-old Venezuelan makes the rare same-season jump from the DSL, where he began his second pro season, and eventually land in Carolina (with the mid-season stint in Maryvale). He has thrown strikes and garnered K's all along the way.
