Could we get Jordan Mongomery for 2 years/$45 million?

Now that Burns' money is gone, we have a chance to replace him with his money plus a little more.

Maybe a lower priced starter?  Any guesses?

Now that Ortiz is in the mix after the Burnes trade, if there's a market for trading Adames I wonder if he's next to go and then the Brewers could turn around and pay for a quality righthanded DH - JD Martinez or Soler are still looking for work.

I thin Montgomery is going to sign for longer than what the Brewers would be comfortable with - although it is approaching spring training pretty quickly.  From a pitching standpoint - finding a solid veteran starter to add to the middle of the rotation for 1-2 seasons, or have a contract structures with some sort of opt out in that timeframe.

A move like that makes sense to me. Then move Willy Adames and other pieces for a young starting pitcher.

Not sure why some want Clevinger.  He is just a guy and would probably be just average to below average as a #3 or #4 type starter.  He had an xFIP of 5.15 last year.  That is not someone I would want the Brewers to spend money on in FA.  The Brewers already have Clevinger signed and his name is Wade Miley.

Just say not Clevinger like the DARE program taught us!

Montgomery was projected by MLBTR to get 6/150.  And I still think he'll get something close to that.

I'd do 4/100, but I doubt he'd sign it.

Tik tok the clock is running, maybe some of these free agents will sign for less.

I'm hoping for Soler and Clevinger.... Would definitely make me feel better about the Burnes trade.

Clevinger seems so obvious that I'm almost surprised that it hasn't happened.

2/24.  Get it done.

Dude kind of sounds like Bauer-lite a little bit.

Had the incident with Plesac where they violated Covid protocols, then he had a domestic incident last year.

MLB didn’t take official disciplinary action, but sounds like Clevinger “voluntarily” entered some kind of treatment program.

Could be a factor in why he hasn’t signed yet, or could just be waiting out Snell and Montgomery.

I remember the covid thing, but I guess I brain-farted on the domestic issue.  Obviously not great.  I would guess that's a factor for him.

Assuming he's healthy enough to play 100+ games at 3B, I'd like to see the Brewers pursue Gio Urshela. Brings a bat that can help lengthen the lineup (#6/#7 type hitter). Would provide a backup plan in case Black can't quite handle 3B or if Adames is traded and Ortiz becomes the starting SS. A multi-season deal could also let him serve as a  bridge to Wilken as the future 3B.

Just signed Bauer and be done with it...All of those people that will get offended need to man up.

Also, if you Cheer and still like Braun, you cant dislike Bauer - One guy proved to be a cheater and one guy was acquitted.

True that Bauer was acquitted. Regardless, he's pretty well known for being a Grade A prick, though.

Of course, so is Josh Donaldson, and he seemed to fit into the clubhouse fine last year.

I'm on board with Bauer.  I think he has all of the incentive in the world to be a model citizen on a one-year "prove it" deal.  I think he only made $3 million in Japan.  Offer him $5 million for one year.  We pay him more than Japan and also sell him on it by saying we are taking a risk that nobody else is willing to take but it allows him to prove himself as both a pitcher and a person and maybe strike it big with one more decent contract.  Gives us a quality top of the end rotation starter as a bridge for some of the young guys to get their feet under them.

Yup, 5 million with other incentives...

Did anyone call the Jakob Junis signing?

I don't think so.  OK signing, long relief or number 5 starter.  I hope Gasser is the real deal.

At this point I think we are done adding pitchers, we have like 17 worthy opening day roster pitchers and like 7-8 of those could start. Pretty much the same for bats, unless we trade Willy I could then see spending some money on another bat but even then it blocks someone young from ab's.

  • SP - Montgomery - 3.2, 5/$105M

  • SS/2B - Tim Anderson - 1/$8M
  • 3B/1B/SS - Urshela - 1.1, n/a
  • 2B/3B - Segura - 1.0, n/a
