Since we all know he walks with us getting the comp pick, might now be the time to see if we can get a good deal for him?

Turang to short with Ortiz at second or vice versa if we can get paid off.  Miller and Sheehan for Adames we’d have to accept right?

The Dodgers won't offer a return like that, sooooo.......

No. Ask the question in July. We will know if we are actually competing. If we are still first in the division, it would be ridiculous to trade him, if we are 8 games behind on the Wild Card it might make more sense. By then the price will also be higher because demand increases at the deadline..

Well...hypothetically, if you can get Bobby Miller and Emmett Emmet Sheehan, you make the trade anytime.

That's 2/5ths of a good MLB rotation and very possibly a future ace.

The Dodgers are probably not going to do that, so for the players that are more likely on the table, I'd have to say...pass.

For Adames we couldn't get anything close to Miller, we would be lucky to get Sheehan straight up and he is injured. No rush sending Willy, just need to play Ortiz everyday at 3B for now.

Yea pull the plug on so many starts for Dunn.  Give Ortiz a full try at 3B and see how it goes.  If he's legit over the next 2 months it could change the calculation on Adames a bit.     Of course with what happened with Hader I strongly doubt they trade him in season but if by end of June Turang is still looking good and Ortiz is solid you kind of have to consider a shrew business move to maximize return on Adames.   Its just with the good start to the year and weak division its very unlikely they'll be out of the race by the deadline

Miller AND Sheehan?

At this point, I'd be pretty damn happy with one of them.

Price won't be higher if he goes in the tank offensively.

imo, now is a great time to look to move him, if we don't get the offers we want, we can always wait until the deadline and hope he is putting up numbers that a team like the Dodgers would be interested in.  Dude knows he is playing for a contract, if he can't put it together for a full season in a contract year, I doubt we will get jack squat for him.

I sincerely hope he is kicking butt all year so we have an opportunity to get something back, but it is all going to depend on the standings at the deadline...

Also, if he doesn't have a great year, I want nothing to do with signing him in the off season if we don't trade him.  NOTHING!

I think we know near the all star break  but right now need a Starter and a Bat IMO  to increase this team chances

We need at least 2 starters, and at least 2 bats.

In all likihood we would probably get a young higher upside guy (who represents the comp pick) and a medium valued prospect as trade value. I doubt anyone is giving up quality young players who are mlb ready at this point, especially with injuries around the league be what it is.

Ideas that meet other teams values

Tigers for Kevin McGonigle and Alex Faedo

Dodgers for Kendall George/Joendry Vargas/Payton Martin and Gus Varland/Gavin Lux

Red Sox Blaze Jordan and Richard Fitts

Not great, for that I say keeo him and get the comp. pick.

Rather than start a new thread, can someone tell me how many days Ortiz needs to be in aaa to get an extra year control out of him?

45 days but Ortiz isn't going to be optioned so it doesn't really matter.

.296 .397 .561 .958

ROY-type numbers when combined with his defense at 3rd.

Obviously there are a couple of Japanese pitchers who will make that a long shot, but what a start for him.

Late to the party... sorry...

There is a clubhouse coefficient that might need to be part of the equation.  For example, he and Contreras have seemed to take a bit of a mentoring role with Chourio.  It also seems like he keeps the clubhouse loose.  Would trading him be Hader version 2?

And no way Adames is traded…. Hader trade still looms large as clubhouse dynamite to first place team. We would have to be an unlikely playoff team before he is shipped away.

What about Willy?
Last month, I wrote about how the Milwaukee Brewers were unlikely to make the same type of deal with shortstop Willy Adames that they did with closer Josh Hader at the 2022 deadline. Well, maybe they should consider trading Adames, given the state of their injury-riddled rotation, the depth in their infield and the willingness of the Dodgers as a potential suitor.

Right-hander Carlos Rodriguez on Tuesday became the 12th pitcher to start a game for the Brewers this season, through only 67 games. That number ties another injury-depleted club, the Braves, for the most in the majors. Five teams — the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Phillies, Twins and Yankees — have used only six starters.

The Brewers, leading the NL Central by 6 1/2 games, would risk unsettling their clubhouse again if they moved Adames, an everyday player and team leader who entered Tuesday with 10 homers and an adjusted OPS 14 percent above league average. On the other hand, Adames is a potential free agent — Hader had a year-plus remaining — and the Brewers could replace him from within, keeping Brice Turang at second while playing Joey Ortiz at short and some combination of Oliver Dunn and Andruw Monasterio at third.

Sure, the team’s offense would suffer. Its morale would, too. But how exactly are the Brewers going to get through the season with their rotation in such a dubious state? Brandon Woodruff and Wade Miley already are out for the year. Robert Gasser might soon join them. Both external free-agent additions, Jakob Junis ($7 million) and Joe Ross ($1.75 million), are on the injured list as well.

The Brewers’ first option should be to trade for a pitcher such as Miami Marlins left-hander Jesús Luzardo or Chicago White Sox lefty Garrett Crochet. Such a move, however, likely would require them to part with a prospect package beyond their comfort level. Adames, with his club control dwindling, would not bring a young starting pitcher such as the Dodgers’ Landon Knack on his own. But as well as the Brewers have played, everything needs to be on the table, no?

On MLB NOW yesterday, Brian Kenny was highlighting the fact that the shortstop position is really, really deep in MLB right now. Perhaps the deepest it has ever been. EXCEPT for the Dodgers, what other team would be bidding on him? Maybe Seattle?

I just don't think, even if the Brewers were inclined, that they would find a team that would be willing to part with even fair value, let alone the value we would want to see from trading a good starting shortstop.

Was it someone in the Dodger's front office or the Cubs/Cardinals/Reds/Pirates that texted Rosenthal and begged him to write this?

It would be extremely risky to trade Adames at any time this season.  The time to do it would have been last off season.

He is one of our leaders, and trading him could really effect our offense, both physically and mentally.

Unless we get an unreal haul for him (not likely) I think we keep him.

I don't think it's a bad idea to move Willy for starting pitching. I just have a hard time believing his value is so high that making a trade would be worth it.
