Remember he's different.  19yr old who was extended without playing a game. Swinging hard at 20 is something that should be left alone. He's still maturing for 4 more years.

He's still maturing for 4 more years.

That's why we have the minors.

Nothing about this matchup suggested we'd have any chance if we needed 7 runs to win and we scored 10.

Baseball is weird.

And gamblers lose.

It was about making room for Holliday sooner rather than later

Uh … I’m aware of who is in their minor league system

I’m suggesting that Ortiz should have been on the Orioles roster instead of Mateo in 2023 & maybe earlier

Corbin Burnes value in trade deemed it so?

What about the year before the trade?

Ortiz was big league ready in 2023 more so than Chourio is in 2024

Lots of heroes tonite. Two unsung ones were Koenig & Paredes for restoring order in the 6th & 7th after the ridiculousness of the previous couple innings.

Boy, Adames waiting back & driving a changeup out of the park is a great sign.

Relishing the thought of their fans skewing CC for sitting the second coming of Cy Young for 10 days between starts, then seeing him get clocked.

There's such a fine line between swinging hard and swinging out of control. It took me into my twenties to figure out I actually hit balls harder more consistently when I dial back the effort by about 10%. Out of control swings tend to get longer and your head and body start dropping.

Which your first comment mentioned other small mechanical things in his swing.  How much do you want him working on? Work on the others let swinging too hard be something focused when he's still growing, filling out.  We could have Tyrone Taylor out there, who unsurprisingly has weak numbers.

Cubs and Cards tied now in the standings. I love it.

That’s like saying the xenomorph and the predator are equal-distance behind you. I get what you’re trying to say, I think, but I’ll never sleep soundly until they are both nuked from orbit. Its the only way to be sure…

You're right we do. Chourio is different. He's signed for 8seasons. Optioned or not. Front office has him lined up as face of the franchise. Why worry the fans in the stands? He's a money-maker and doesn't need to perform right now in being so. 215 heading in to tonight. He's in between meeting expectations and being a flop. Which will keep him making money for Milw. I don't believe he's a reason the team is losing games. They are in 1st place and it's still early in the season.

I swear it was just last Sunday people didn't want him hitting cleanup

I'll stand behind that. Everyone has hot/cold stretches, but when Willy's bad he's exceptionally bad. Not someone I want in the cleanup spot. I get it w/Hoskins out, but in a perfect world I'd have him a couple spots lower. When in a stretch like this though, heck yeah, fun to watch.

Ortiz was big league ready in 2023 more so than Chourio is in 2024

2022 Ortiz maxxed his minors season to 26games in AAA.

2023 Chourio 6games AAA.  That's a small difference  to suggest Ortiz was more ready to play in the majors. How many records did Ortiz set at the AA level for his age?

Either way Ortiz wasn't deemed ready by Bal. Then prospect manipulation jumped in. 15games played at MLB level, left him eligible for Roy in 2024 so long as he was ranked by 2 of 3 rankings. Don't know if he did or not. Good reason to trade him had he not.
