Among 596 pitchers with at least 200 IP in the minor leagues from 2021 to 2024, Meeker has some interesting ranks...

2.71 ERA (4th) | 39.7 Oppo% (5th highest) | 37.7 Pull% (5th lowest) | 1.13 WHIP (18th) | 6.5 HR/FB% (19th) | 3.52 FIP (21st) | 5.8 BB% (31st) | 0.62 HR9 (46th)

I assume we'll see Ashby back in 4 days. I wonder if he even goes to Nashville or just heads to Milwaukee.

Someone would need to go on the IL for Ashby to be back in 4 days. I think this leads credence to the theory that C-Rod was pulled early from his last start because they want him fresh for his MLB debut.

his numbers are really good. I'm surprised it took as long considering their injury issues.  I don't know how great his stuff is, but I'm assuming its not great which is why? Can anyone comment

Woe the pitchers used and called up are simply amazing. I not sure if they can continue this throughout the season but at least gives guys an opportunity.

It will be quite interesting to see how Meeker's stuff plays at the MLB level. When he's on, he's very very solid and works through innings quickly. When he's off? His stuff tends to flatten out and he gets hit fairly hard. These 'rough' outings have been fewer and farther between. It's an amazing story for a guy who only two winters ago was pitching in the Aussie Winter League - albiet, winning Reliever of the Year (kind of a Brewers thang now - see RHP Sam Gardner this past winter...now pitching well with Biloxi). Like the Packers and UDFA signings, Indy pitchers have to see a very very real shot to make it if they sign up with the Brewers. So many success stories ongoing. Heck RHP Ryan Middendorf is coming back on strong - he looked fantastic in his last outing with Nashville.

Anyhow, very excited for Meeker to get the call up. Let's hope he brings his 'A Plus' game and gets after it!

By low 90's here (Spencer's tweet) he means Sinker/4-Seamer sits 91-94 mph. His sinker tends to sit in that 92-92.5 range. The 4-seamer essentially is a 93.5mph pitch. FWIW.

Slider dips down to low 80's. Cutter sits 87-88.

I'm sure with this team we can bank on someone needing to go on the IL in 4 days.

Don't get me wrong I love Meeker and I respect his journey from indy to MLB but I never in a million years would have guessed he would be up by early June. These injuries are devastating.

I'm happy for Meeker. Its a great story. But I'm surprised they did not go with Taylor Clarke who is already on the 40 man roster. When Junis, Mitchell, and Bukauskas come off the 60 day IL soon (hopefully) we are going to need those 40 man roster spots.  Meeker will be at risk of being DFA'd to make room

Believe Clarke’s been getting stretched out to start, nine scoreless over his last three outings (two starts) and on the hill again starting tonight.

Guessing they are saving him for future rotation reinforcements at some point.

We've been talking all season about how deep the organization is at RP, but somehow, (even with his good stats), Meeker was never on my radar.

Yeah, thought they’d go with Rob Zastryzny first if they called up somebody that needed to be added to the 40 man since he has the shinier stats…2.45 ERA | 2.69 FIP | 35.7 K%.

Looks like Rob has only gone more than 1.0 IP in 3 of his 23 appearances so far this year so maybe Meeker got the nod due to being more capable of soaking up multiple innings.

Always thought James had it in him though. Found this note in a minor league game thread after seeing him at Wisco in August 2022…

Meeker: doesn’t have that plus plus stuff on the mound, but he just competes and gets outs in tough spots.  Don’t think he’ll ever be a high leverage MLB guy, but do believe he will keep moving up & get to the show in the next couple years which would be a major success in & of itself for an Indy ball sign.

Probably had more to do with Meeker having options (or being likely to pass through waivers if DFA’d) and the fact the bullpen already has 3 LHP in it.

Why? Just keep Meeker up. This is likely a short stay for Elieser as we will need that spot for Carlos on Tuesday.  Elieser had so much promise coming up but has never been able to avoid giving up HRs. I dont see this going well for him.

Meeker pitched yesterday and Wednesday. They probably just want a fresh arm for some garbage innings during the weekend. I guess either him or Myers go down on Tuesday morning.

Not enough innings to be ranked but those statcast numbers for Elisier are just ugly. Fastball lacking velo or IVB from what I can see. Slider seems nothing special and changeup consistently ranked as among the worst in baseball. Hopefully we squeeze a couple of clean innings out of him.

The DL Hall news suck. Especially after he was so close to coming back. I hope he comes back in time for September.
