From the Tigers beat....Flaherty has also been connected with the Yankees today, too. He's already been scratched from his start so presumably a trade is imminent.

How's his back? We don't need another injured starter.

Seems as though he's missed 2 starts this year.

He's been very very good.

I'd roll the dice depending on cost of course.

I could be wrong, and if I am, I'll give him my props for sure. But I have serious skepticism that any beat writer with only 4K followers in the Detroit metro area really has anything other than a desire to stir up clicks.

Is Flaherty only a rental?  Is he under contract for 2025?

I’d be very hesitant to deal from that list of players he posted. And if that is indeed the going rate for a rental pitcher of his quality, I’m fine seeking lower cost options.

No way I’d trade Lara, Boeve, or Wichrowski for 2 months of Flaherty. Baez would be ok. Eric Brown Jr for Flaherty?

Kikuchi just got a Top 100/fringe Top 100 MLB ready pitching prospect and 2 additional prospects. People are way underrating what it would take to get Flaherty.

I would hope if the brewers did something like that it would be someone with 2025 control. Brewers, more than almost every team needs to consider the future and present when making trades.

Ok, then I am out on Flaherty...  He alone without another SP of his caliber plus a really solid bat or two just isn't going to be enough to improve our chances for a DEEP playoff run.

I'd hold and hope our guys coming off the IL are enough to get us to the playoffs.

I am fine trading Black for someone with control beyond this year but he is the "highest" rated guy I would move.

Kikuchi came pretty cheap didn’t he?

This was the season to be a seller definitely.  If the Brewers weren't playing so well it would have been a rather large haul for Williams definitely more than what the Brewers got for Hader.  Possibly two players in the 25-50 range plus another prospect in the 100 range.  Not sure who would have been able to pay that but that is what Williams could have fetched.

What if it turned out to be for a 3.5 month rental that finished with an early November parade?

I also hope Wilken is going nowhere, but I'd be fine with overpaying for the main thing this roster needs to have a shot at an extended postseason run - a starter that can get you deep into a game consistently in October.

I'd give up Wilken and Misiorowski for Tarik Skubal.

Edit: sorry. This is the Flaherty thread.

The Tigers would be the order takers if that is what we offered:

Yeah. I put it in the prediction thread. We've got a lot of threads going. I was mostly responding to the idea of giving up Wilken.

I would do Boeve and Henderson for Flahrety.  Maybe another low level guy.

I'm in favor of moving prospects but would not trade Henderson for a rental
