The bigger issue to me is they would basically be counting on 500 ABs from Durbin, they can't really deal with an injury and that roster has an awful DH setup. So a 3B with a bat makes it all work because Durbin isn't needed full time and the new 3B can help fill some DH potentially.

I agree that counting on Durbin for 500 ABs at 3B isn't going to work very well. Murphy has said he prefers to leave Turang at 2B, so getting a 3B who can hit is the primary need for now.  I don't agree on the DH however.  I see the Brewers with excellent DH numbers, using Yelich as the primary DH and Contreras for 30 or more games there. That leaves a place for Black (LF) if one of the OFs has to be traded to get a 3B and allows Yelich to ease back into playing LF more in 2026.

Believe Yelich said he doesnt like to DH or something like that..... He's fine in LF.

What Domino are teams waiting for to drop before more moves happen?

Bregman and Alonso for Hitters?

Flaherty and Pivetta for pitchers?

Seems silly to play him in LF with so many talented defensive options for that position.  Literally every outfielder we have is a ton better than Yelich defensively.  Frelick, Mitchell, Perkins, Chourio, everyone of them!!!

I don't give two poops what position Yelich wants to play and nor should Murphy.  We have too many great defensive outfielders and with Yelich coming off back surgery anyway, he should just accept the fact that his days playing the outfield are mostly over.

Yea good point, REALLY hope Mitchell stays healthy cuz if he does.... Wow, do we have a dude in CF.

Yelich, Mitchell, Chourio could be a dynamic OF! Could easily be top 3 trio in all of MLB.

With Frelick a Gold Glover last year, plus Perkins a runner-up.  Love this depth!

It wasn't until late January into February last year until we signed Rhys and Burnes was traded setting up a couple FA signings. Here are some ideas for a big shake up.

1)Brewers get Triston Casas Red Sox get Nolan Arenado, Ryan Pressley, and (midtier Brewer prospect), Cards get Lucas Giolito and Elvis Peguero Astros get Joel Payamps, Blake Perkins

We get a long term 1st baseman, the Red Sox upgrade defense and get a closer. The Cards get out from Arenado and get 2 useful arms. The Stros shed some money to maneuver and get an upside OF and depth pen arm for Pressley. Casas for Perkins, Payamps, Peguero, and prospect doesn't seem obscene for Cases

2) Brewers get Luis Arraez, Mets get Rhys Hoskins, Padres get Starling Marte (Mets eat like 5million) and Carlos Rodriguez

This ends up a 3 way deal to send out contracts teams are trying to move for similar pieces of need. We send out CarRod to make up for Arraez having a little bit of value.

3)Sign reliever like Sewald/ LeClerc/Jansen/Kimbrel 1/5-6 ish

I don't know if Jansen or Kimbrel sign that cheap buy maybe. I like the idea of picking up Sewald and our staff re-invigarating him.

That would be phenomenal to give up nothing and get something pretty great.   Peguero Payamps and Perkins, if I have to be the one to tell you, doesn’t equal Casas in the slightest.

I agree, I meant to put put an additional mid-tier prospect to the Sox (since fixed) but since writing that think it would need to be someone in our top 10ish, say Brock Wilken or Luke Adams.

With what you offered, If you want Casas, we have to start with offering Pratt to the redsox.

NA has negative value. Pressly has start to regress.

I doubt the Redsox would do this

Redsox get: Hoskins/Peralta/BLack

Brewers get: Casas/Giolito

The Red Sox have a lot of starting options, it is a nice idea but my guess is that the Sox would be looking for relief or middle infield help. Obviously they probably would have to add Arenado or Bregman to make Casas available I would mind the framework of that deal, I might try and swap Black out for a reliever or prospect.

Casas is a pretty valuable trade chip. I can’t think of too many players we have that would interest Boston for him. They are a large market team that will either want to improve the 2025 roster or add absolutely premium prospects.

Garrett Mitchell, Jesus Made, Jacob Misiorowski these are some names that come to mind.

Freddy Peralta is a good guess too but I don’t see how it works for them because they don’t need a SP that much. Contreras, Ortiz, Turang would interest them but there is no trade there that works for us.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Just trade for Lowe, Move Turang to SS and call it a day

Turang - SS

Chourio - LF

Yelich - DH

Contreras - C

Mitchell - CF

Lowe - 2B

Frelick - RF

Hoskins - 1B

Ortiz - 3B

We haven't mentioned any of the Rangers IF depth for a while as trade options. There bullpen is pretty rough looking and they have Josh Smith, Ezekiel Duran, and Justin Foscue as extra IF'ers.

I also like Casey Schmitt as a cheaper blocked 3B option. The is a little more power and higher end defense upside.

I've mentioned the Ray's IF depth enough. The O's don't have the depth the once did but Mateo or Urias could make sense. The Mets with Acuna and Mauricio (maybe McNeil) could be interesting. Maybe the Twins as well.

I know we don't need more relief help but if the price on Kyle Finnegan or David Robertson comes down enough to say 1/5 what are thoughts on getting a solid vet reliever? In theory, we have a bunch of late inning quality arms but overall there isn't a lot of late inning experience after Megill and Payamps. I still like the idea of trading a bullpen arm or two for a blocked 3rd baseman, if that happens I would be all over either guy if they are discounted.

I do still think Robertson will sign a more lucrative deal once there is a couple meaningful bullpen injuries over the next couple weeks, but I could see Finnegan having to take a reduced salary just to be on a team opening day.

Has anyone got a rudimentary list of some blocked or potentially available 3B prospects as we reach the back half of spring training?   Brett Baty still stands out as one guy.   Is Mayo looking likely to crack Baltimores lineup?  Anyone on the Rangers possibly available?   I can see a starting pitching prospect like CRod or Patrick potentially dangled in a deal with Black for the right guy.   Mayo would take more and Baty shouldn’t cost more than one of the three plus some additional lesser prospect capital (Maybe two of the three would be needed for Baty though, IDK).

Any other name ideas?   Otherwise it seems our 3B position is hitting better than any other this spring surprisingly, so maybe we just go with what we have as Pratt/Boeve/Wilken presumably get that much closer to grabbing a starting infield slot for us sometime in the next 1-1.5 years.

Just start Durbin at 3B, see how things go and trade if you have too

Looking like will be Dunn/Durbin platoon.
