Being a naive teenager in the '90s, I truly thought that the Brewers had the makings of an Atlanta Braves-type rotation with Cal Eldred, Scott Karl, free agent signee Ben McDonald, and "Big Daddy", #13, the huge flame-throwing 6'7" righty, Jeff D'Amico. Unfortunately, despite glimmers of ace-type stuff (including a whole season of great work in 2000), injuries and inconsistency caught up, and it wasn't meant to be for the once Brewers' future ace.

Hmmm.  Lord willing, we will be in Phoenix to watch them play.  Wouldn't that be cool?

We were going to go, too, but I keep hearing from friends who go to games and concerts there that it is unbearable at times, depending on where you’re sitting, because the AC is broken in the stadium.  The wife just doesn’t want to sit there and sweat the whole game.

Are they even trying to restore the AC?  Seems like that would be critical. 😬

I'm not sure where we are sitting.  I think we are going to try to get there Friday.  Saturday is up in the air since some other people in the group want to do other things.  Not sure what else there is to do in Phoenix.

There is a lot to do in Phoenix but it is going to be hot though just over 100 all of next week.

Things to do:

Hiking at any of the mountains nearby though so this before 11am so start around 6-8 am and bring a lot of water more than you think should be necessary.

Any of the zoo’s.

Lake Pleasant.

Top Golf

Some restaurants that I recommend:

Little miss bbq though the briskets at times will sell out around noon and there can be long wait times. https://littlemissbbq.com

Taco Boys https://aztacoboys.com

Arrogant Butcher https://www.thearrogantbutcher.com/locations/phoenix-az/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Organic&utm_campaign=Maps

One would think.  I know a friend who went to a concert a couple weekends ago and just sweat through his shirt.

And he was sitting right below a vent that normally is blowing ice cold air.

theyre not fixing it, I’ve heard, because the team is trying to get a new stadium.  The county or city owns the ballpark but wants the team to pay for the repairs.

Or something like that

Hey @nate82 -- thank you for the list!   It appears there are some cool ATV two-hour excursions that we were going to try, but I think that would put a little strain on the day if we are planning to see the game on Saturday.

All in all, I think it is going to be a great time.  I know we are sitting behind the Brewers dugout on Friday -- third row.  Hopefully the AC is good there.

BTW for all that are reading this -- I know there are other sites that offer the same type of camaraderie, but there is often other baggage that comes along with that.  The community on BrewerFantatic is top-notch.  Thank you!!!!!

Be careful with those ATV excursions as some don't mention that you need to put down a rather large deposit.  Some charge up to $300 per person but make it sound like it is an all in one deposit and not per person.  I suggest bringing a lot of water with you even if they say they will provide water.

If you were here the next weekend I would suggest going to Fear Farm which is extremely fun.  But that is mostly a night thing.  https://fearfarm.com/attractions/

After the Friday night game or the Saturday night game you may want to go to Stardust Pinbar.  I like the Pizza there and it is a unique place.  There are also a few other bars and restaurants down there that are fun like the valley bar.

Oh also forgot about the Salt River Tubing.  I am not sure on the water level but the last time I went it was low and well I got bruises on my backside hitting some rocks.  It is more of a party crowd when going down the river.  You can see some wild donkeys and mustangs from time to time.  Please do not feed or get too close to them.

That sounds like fun.  We have tubed the Wisconsin River a few times and we did have to make sure the water levels were good.  I will have to be careful because I burn within 2.3 seconds 🤦‍♂️
