It Is Time To Stop disrespecting Blake Perkins and Sal Frelick and Start Believing In This Brewers Team!

Posted

This summer I have like many Brewers fans been glued to the action and LOVING it as any fan of this team should.   However now facing a real possibility of a 1st place finish in the NL and a actual shot at winning all of it I keep hearing the same chirpings I have listened to my entire life as a Wisconsin sports fan and it is time this negativity STOPS in Milwaukee because it is the bad attitude of fans that is the last major hurdle to climb before this team wins it all.    There is no sports fanbase more skeptical than the Brewers fan and it all ways it is an earned opinion no one could ever disparage as this team has won nothing real at any point since 1982.    Now however with an actual contender in place it is this is a mindset that must dissolve if this team ever hopes to win anything real.    As fans of a team who have never won much worth winning  it is hard to convert our collective mindset to a winners mindset but this is what must happen if the Brewers and the fans ever wish to be champions of American Baseball .  No team can win with a fanbase who does not believe in the team they follow.  If you believe this team is doomed to failure it will be as has been the case for all time so far.      Somehow that is how sports works and it have always worked and even if it sounds impossible it seems to track and it really has something to do with being a winning franchise through history.  The faith in the team fans follow does matter and it is time we had faith.      A team is only as good as the fans who cheer for them.  If they are considered losers no matter what they do they will always loose.  So it is up to us as fans to help take this team the rest of the way!  Even if we are ultimately disappointed and we get hurt by that outcome it is better to believe and fail than be a sceptic and fail.   A full buy in is required to bring the extra push a team needs to win fall baseball and it that lack of faith that has kept us from winning in the playoffs forever.    So as a fan of the 2024 Brewers who truly believes this is the year that WE can win a Pennant and World Series I am asking the rest of Brewers to BUY IN!  Buy in so we can feel what it is like to be part of American baseball for the first time in all of our lives.     This team has enough to win all of it and this is most likely the best Brewers team in our lifetime with the best shot at the Show's greatest prize than it has ever had in its history.   So given that .  We need to be there for this team when it matters most(which is RIGHT NOW)  in the coming weeks through the end of this season and beyond.    If we buy in the prize is OURS and this team will be remembered as one of the greatest Wisconsin sports teams of all time when the smoke clears.   So get out there and believe in this team and help us take this thing to the highest highs! You will never regret it!

In my opinion buying in starts by recognizing those players who got us here and in my mind two of the most important players on this Brewers roster right now at Blake Perkins and Sal Frelick who are almost constantly disrespected by this fanbase yet who are two major pieces who carry this team though more often than not.   Between the fanbase and those who cover Brewers baseball for a living  I hear almost 0 good reporting on either player despite them playing lights out through the entire 2024 season and in previous season for that matter.     To all of you who love to bash Blake and Sal it is time we stop downplaying greatness because both of these players are GREAT and need respect attached to their names.   Sal and Blake have had career seasons in 2024 and by all accounts are ascending players who have not yet even touched the quality of player they will become as Brewers.   It time we stop demonizing these men who have come through time and time again for this fanbase and franchise and give them the respect they have earned as Stars of this league .  Sal is batting .268(as of Aug 31)  and Blake is batting  .264O(same)  respectively as of the 31st of August and look like they are going to carry a very hot bat and their exceptional defense into the playoffs and help this team win the biggest games of this franchises existence in the coming weeks.   So in my opinion  it is time we stopped treating in the way fans speak of them constantly and realize that the Brewers have 2 of the very best outfielders in the game today on this roster and there is no need to correct either player as they are glue guys who make this Brewers team go as much as anyone on the roster today.        I have been in conversations online this season frequently with Brewers fans and so many times I hear these fans bash Sal and Blake and make them sound as if they have no place playing in the Bigs.   Why they believe that is still a mystery to me as most of them have no answers when you present the stats these men put out and love to downplay just how effective these players are in truth and I simply will never understand it.   In the past 7 games Sal has won games for this team with his clutch bat and defense and he is hitting .346 in his last 7 games and has several weeks of this season where he is the hottest batter on the team .   Blake over the past 30 games has a .395 batting average and is one of  most versatile batters on the roster as a switch hitter who blasts pitching of both varieties and yet is considered by many who follow this team as a replacement piece.    However in my estimation and by comparisons  Blake is the BEST Center in all of Baseball and I do not need him to hit 40 home runs to prove it.  His defense in the outfield is truly second to none. Not only on the Brewers roster but all of the MLB and anyone who sees him play would have to agree.     So next time you evaluate this team and its less celebrated Stars remember this Brewers team is LUCKY that it has players who hold it together while the streakier Star Bats of this team are between hitting outburst Sal and Blake are always going to be there getting on base and keeping hits from happening on a regular basis until they get hot again.         Sal and Blake are some of the very best of the best players in the league in the outfield and they are also great hitters who seem to get hits even when the rest of the players on this team do not which leads to more wins for the Crew and that is really all that matters! WINNING and Blake and Sal help us win as much as Adames and Contreras do they just do it in a different way .   Great hitters do not have to hit homers to be great hitters(someday they will BOTH hit more HRS) as long as they play gold glove level defense and  that push scores in with a constant bat  and put themselves on base when runs are needed most and Blake and Sal do that in Spades.      Champions are teams with the right mix of talent and the 2024 Brewers have that mix because of players like Blake and Sal and it would be nice if the fans saw that truth.     The story of the 2024 Brewers is a mixed bag of skillsets and abilities from top to bottom.  There are lots of players contributing at a high level to put this team in the position is in right now and is giving this team its best chance at winning a World Series since its induction.  I know that at the very top of that list are Blake Perkins and Sal Frelick and it is time all fans not only "buy in" on them as legitimate Stars in their own rights but BELIEVE in this team as a whole so we can win things we only ever dreamed of!   GO CREW !

Time to stop disreapesting Pat Murphy also. When Craig Counsell went to the Chicago Cubs, the immediate reaction from most fans was that Milwaukee would take a step back. Then the Brewers traded star pitcher Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles and the conversation shifted toward a rebuild season.

He should be manager of the year with all the injuries and call ups we had this season. Also, no Woodruff, no Yelich, no Miley is just the tip of the iceburg of injuries.

Also, 20 teams in the MLB with higher payrolls than the Brewers.

2.5 WAR for Perkins

2.1 WAR for Frelick

The problem, if there is one, is Frelick’s offensive stat line this year is nearly identical to his stat line last year. Does that mean he just a high floor/low ceiling player?  Is there more juice in his offensive game for next season when the team will likely be taking a step back offensively at SS?

Ortiz or Turang will slide over to SS. We wil need a SS or 3B next year. I don’t think Monasterio or Black is a starter at those positions.

There are some affordable infielder free agents, I think.

There may be some good stuff in the original post, but the lack of paragraphs, etc. make it impossible for me to even attempt to read through it...

I think Pat is without a doubt the odds on favorite to win the award.  I love the upgrade from the Cubs manager who is where he belongs.   Those Cubbies have sure found their bats these days though. If they had not Craig might have been looking for work at the end of the 24' Show.  I think this push the Cubs are on will save his job though it will do nothing else.     Pat is the best thing to happen in Milwaukee since 1982.

Cooper Pratt is the answer if Willy is not resigned.   That is also the best thing about the future for this franchise.  It is LOADED with guys who can play infield and out.   Absolutely not necessary to shop to replace Adames outside of the Farms.  They have the next star Short Stop on the roster and we have yet to actually see him yet.  Cooper Pratt is why Willy won't be resigned more than his cost value.    I think Oliver Dunn also has a bright future .   As far as Black and Mona I was a huge Tyler Black fan but each time he has been given a shot in the Bigs this year he has progressively gotten worse.    They have put a lot into Black to develop his defense but the truth is his time may never come at this point.    As far as Mona the guy is a backup who can play all positions beside Catcher and Pitcher.   May not be the star of the rest of the team but Pat loves him and you need guys like Mon to get through a long season.    He is just a roster guy but one the team LOVES and that is all you need from a backup .

Officially this will be the last time I speak of 2025 until the 2024 season is over.   This ...THIS is OUR year! The focus MUST be put on the 2024 season by all involved because we can really win this thing ! Even without Yelich this is the best team in the NL and all of Baseball when it comes to how it is set up and what they can do in a fall ball setup .   I will worry about the 2025 SS issue in 2025 .  Until then LETS GO CREW !

WAR is the stupidest stat line one can use to examine a players usefulness and I condend it was a stat invented by ****** who do not watch baseball yet still want to sound smart . Sal has put the Brewers in the lead with a hit ....(WILLY JUST HIT 13 RECORD TYING 3 run HOMERS AS WE SPEAK !)  ..   I lost my train of thought.     Anyways if you want to hate players of the level of Sal and Blake you should be a Cubs fan.    Sal is a player this team cannot afford to loose.  Blake was out 10 games and this team struggled without him.   You can use your paper stats to define these players but it like the Brewers as a whole does not tell the story of the 2024 group and it sure as hell leaves out the actual success that Blake and Sal bring with them as players.    The Brewers have two young STUDS in those players and it is time people like yourself started watching the games instead of just watching stat lines to define a player.      Sal and Blake are like  most of the 2024 roster for the Brewers . They BOTH irreplaceable pieces of the team that is about to win this whole damn thing that I would not trade right now for anyone in baseball.  BET .   The construction of the 2024 Brewers is a mix that will bring us and ending for the ages .

Blakes .301 Average against Lefties is currently the best in baseball in 2024 for all switch hitters.  He is hitting .442 against Lefties since July 1st and .395 as a whole over the past 40 days . He also has 10 outs above average as of today.      If you have a problem with those numbers you should have your head examined.      So maybe WAR is not the most important metric to prove a point as the most objective stat line ever created that has almost 0 to do with reality and only is there to put shade on players like Sal and Blake and make the News Paper Reader seem connected to the game.    You can have your WAR stats . I would not trade either player for anyone currently because it takes players like Sal and Blake to win a championship and that is what this Crew is about to do.

1) Team performance has very little correlation to what the fans do or do not believe. "Support your team" is a great concept but the team falling short in the playoffs isn't from a lack of fan belief or support and we can't push them over the hump with our own sheer will.

2) Like it or not, paragraph structure is important to the readability of a post to your audience.

3) Seems like you're a passionate Brewer fan and supportive of the organization, which is awesome. Yet when you got some pushback on things you resorted to personal insults, accusing others of being Cub fans, etc. Not so awesome.
