Whether predictable on some level or just frustrating, it doesn't look great on either of them when these two activated/promoted guys are the ones who give up the eventual game-winning hits in the two games immediately after they return to the active roster.

Of course, the offense being in skid mode (horrid RISP numbers, very little hitting in general) magnifies any pitcher's hiccup in a stretch like this, which didn't help those guys.  Anything close to their season-average hitting rates by the Crew likely ends both these last two games in regulation.  So it's not all on Peguero & Milner, but when they also were anti-clutch, they (& the team) were doomed.

I don't disagree with your overall point but I prefer to cut Milner a break, he pitched well enough to get through a clean inning but was given a ghost runner not of his making. Ground ball to SS just out of reach... baseball is a tough game sometimes. It wasn't a classic "fall apart at the seams" blown inning. Could have happened to anyone. Still counts.

2 runs. Plain and simple the offense has to score more than that. Especially when provided a runner on 2nd with no outs.

About a month ago, Spencer and the other BF Podcaster guy said that Hoby had been essentially the same pitcher, metricswise as he has been, but that he has been really unlucky this season.

Man I really wondered where Hudson was all September.  Now the postseason is here and he is a BIG REASON for it.   And he won't even be on roster?  Sad stuff.

They had a Twitter post yesterday with a soundbit from Hudson mentioned how they have some dogs in the bullpen, kind of weird that they are still featuring him in social media.

Last I heard his velocity was down, so they sent him down. Obviously he must not have shown signs of any improvement or he would be back up. Last thing the Brewers need is to have a guy pitching that isn't back up to par yet.

My take on this is just that the Mets don't have the pinch hit weapons that require another lefty, instead of Mears. If we advance, I'd say there's a chance Hudson will be back.
