For Connor Thomas that is salt in the wound as the rule V pick up never amounted to anything, and there was opportunity cost (I won't revisit who we lost last year.....) but to now lose him as a free agent. Yikes.

Nick DeCarlo that is a bummer, didn't get to see him much. But that is the business sadly.

Just happened to check in with this for the first time this fall. Bummer to see they let go Nick. Joseph, The Mudcats lease end New Year’s Eve so Jan 1st 2026 will be the first official day papers have Wilson Warbirds on them.

- RHP Coleman Crow was added to the 40-Man roster by the Milwaukee Brewers

- RHP Alexander Vallecillo has been released by the ACL Brewers.

(Is it me or have the Brewers had to release a higher number of promising arms in the past two years due to unfortunate injuries (than in the recent past)?)

It could be that we have more information and therefore more familiarity with a lot of these arms due to better access to the lower levels of minor league baseball - or at least that is just me as I don't know that I knew the DSL or low rookie club players as well like 4-6 years ago.

And the system wide cap on players probably has been a factor too - harder to keep a few players around to see if they can rehab or get past whatever issues are holding them back when that is preventing another player from coming stateside.

But yeah it seem that the players released are more known to me now, and more of them.

The system wide cap on players surely has a lot to do with this.

So Eduardo Garcia is still a Brewers farmhand. They have kept some catching depth, good to see Rodriguez back and hopefully healthy.  Miller - I mean good to see catching depth but not sure the plan and I had figured he would see a better path to being a regular player elsewhere.  With Contreras, Quero ahead of him, and I would argue Wood passed him and Dinges will pass him, he’s 5th option for catching depth in the organization, and 1B/DH is not much easier for him,.  Plus his skill is walks and HBP and Luke Adams is the leader for that lol.  Still good to see Miller but surprised he opted to stay..

With Miller returning, he is the last player from the 2019 draft remaining with the Brewers.  One of the most disappointing drafts in the last 20 years.  It did produce big leaguers Ethan Small, David Hamilton, and Cam Devanney, but none have become a regular player.  But oh my, was that a poor draft.

It appears the Brewers have gotten a jump on their International FA class? They have reportedly signed just-turned-17-year-old (7/30) Venezuelan RHP Jesus Vasquez to a contract. We have no other details at this time.

Perhaps, @ARobsBrewCrew has a mini scoop here?

Unfortunately, I don’t have anything more for you on the signing.  I’ll update if I learn anything else in the coming days!

Eddys Leonard just turned 25 years old on Monday. Signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in July of 2017 for $200,000, he was selected to LA's 40-man roster in November of 2021. He was optioned in both 2022 and 2023, but never did make an MLB debut, as he was DFA'd in July 2023 and subsequently traded to the Tigers for cash.

Detroit kept Leonard on optional assignment for all of 2024, so he has burned through all three of his option years. DFA'd by Detroit in November 2024, he quickly re-signed a minor league deal with the Tigers. Detroit released Leonard at the tail end of spring training this past spring and he was scooped up by Atlanta three days later. Leonard saw plenty of action with AAA Gwinnett for the Braves in 2025, but was a minor league free agent as of a few days ago.

As Leonard's linked Baseball Reference page above will show, the versatile Dominican RH bat shows occasional pop throughout his career, and has posted a AAA line of .265/.348/.452 (.800 OPS), 38 HR's in 233 games at he minors' highest level. He's primarily a 2B/3B/LF in 2025, but with SS on his resume in prior seasons.

Well, signing Leonard is a very good early off-season sign. He is really a nice versatile player only just discovering his broader skillsets. This an extremely fun AAAA signing. These are the types of players the Brewers tend to covet. He primarily played 2B, 3B, LF, amd DH for the Stripers but he got a little bit of action at 1B and even started a game back at SS (where he has previously played over 200 ML games). Always nice when you can grab a Swiss Army line-up knife who hit the furthest and hardest home runs for a ball club.

Here’s what I have for you so far (not much)… the name is actually Jesus Vazquez and he has been signed out of Ruben Guillon Academy in Venezuela.  6’0” 160 lb, he currently tops out in the low 90’s.

My mistake, from the player himself- Ruben Guillon Academy had their client’s name wrong in multiple places 😬 Vasquez it is!
